Audrey:

I like to call it the difference between fighting and debating ;-)

Brainstorming is another good word, it implies that ideas are flashing all

over. Ever had somebody else's idea hit you like a bolt? Wham! Fried stale

beliefs!

My dad dryly calls it " solving the problems of the world " . I remember from

my indiscreet youth how my friends and I always thought we could do that

when we were stoned <G> We even tried taping our conversations, but either

we were communicating on some other level besides verbal, or we weren't as

deep as we imagined, because most of the discourse went like this...

" You know, that thing, like that other thing... "

" Yeah! Yeah... just like that. "

" Wow. "

Lots of laughter.

" Man, I'm hungry. Where are the chips? "

Abs, this reminds me of that humor you sent me about the stages of

drunkenness including " smart " , " good looking " , " rich " , " bullet proof " and

" invisible " .

My HT mentor, Janet, seems to get more cagey and zen as the years go on,

clipping her teaching to an economy of word that can make the newbies

insane. She often answers student questions with the statement, " Do the

work. " While we are at lunch chatting and weighing and pondering and

discussing, she is quietly eating, smiling like the Mona Lisa. Maybe when we

get it all figured out, we'll stop talking so much, too... but I hope not. I

really like to talk ;-)

Blessings,

Crow
