This sounds remarkably familiar...

My Father-in-law had a stroke on New Years Day, and is still in the

hospital. Right now he has to use a wheelchair, but they are working on

getting him up with a walker, but he has terrific left side neglect

(including the left half of each eye). My husband and I have just put our

house on the market and are moving at the end of May to Worcester, MA.

I know what you mean about taking up time...I just wish he was showing more

improvement...

Update

Hi Everyone,

I've been very busy, working on my site and other such things and then

a few weeks ago (2 now?) my father had a stroke which took me away from

everything for a while. He's in a wheelchair; he'd been falling down a

LOT over the last year so in a way it's good that's forced to not even

try to stand. He is the most amazing person, I'd love to write out his

life story sometime. He's been through sheer hell and back and put all

his kids through hell because of it but now he is the sweetest, most

optimistic, funny and enjoyable person you could ever hope to be

around. The day he got home from the hospital, I called about an hour

later and he answered Hello with obvious difficulty in even picking up

the handset. I asked, how are you doing? and he answered, " I feel

great " . That's how he always is. He will let you know when he's

needing something or having troubles (people who don't are irritating

because you can't help if you don't know what's wrong), but he just has

this ability to pull out the tiniest good out of huge messes and focus

only on that good and truly feel great, given what he is focusing on. I

know I have this trait in some ways too, now I know where I got it from

though I never thought of him like this when I was growing up.

So I just wanted to let you all know what is going on. I've seen so

many posts that I've wanted to give input to and just couldn't spare the

time. My husband and I were also in the process of putting an offer

down on a house and I had to let that go. But I just know a better

place

will come along so I'm not too worried.

I've been enjoying reading the posts and am trying to get caught up.

Maybe by next week I will have more time for input.
