Guest guest
Hi, anat, Slippery elm powder is good for heartburn, gastric reflux, indigestion. Buy from health food store. Mix 1 teaspoon with water, milk, yoghurt or mashed banana. I take mine with yoghurt. It's a generally soothing product and can also be used to ease diarrhoea. Guest guest
Dear Anat-- One thing you might want to look at is your breathing. Any kind of restriction in (or upward pressure from) your belly area can cause the symptoms associated with heartburn. In fact, even an inguinal hernia can cause this problem. So can various emotional or other stress-related issues. If you realize that " from mouth through anus " is one long tube (of course of varying diameters, etc.) you will see that pressure anywhere toward the bottom of the tube can cause the symptoms of heartburn because stomach contents are being pushed upward or stopped from flowing downward at their natural speed. There are food issues, too, of course. Many foods, including some fruits, can relax the sphincter between the stomach and esophagus and irritate the esophagus. For some recent research about breathing and acid reflux disease you might want to take a look at my article called " Breathing & Acid Reflux Disease " at http://www.authentic-breathing.com/breathing-gerd.htm In any event, work with grounding such as qigong and tai chi, can be helpful, as can beginning to open up the lower breathing spaces of your body. You can learn more about this on my website. With my best wishes, Dennis Lewis http://www.authentic-breathing.com > i am looking for the cause to this sudden physiological phenonmemom. > at the past I had heartburns only at pregnancies. > i do not understand why it started now, > I know that i ate a heavy meal with garlic two weeks ago and then stasrted > the heartburn, ..... till now. > i think there is something deeper which i want to explore. > > love > anat
Guest guest
dear dennis your answer resonates a lot to me. because i do not eat spicy irritating food at all, we are vegans keeping simple and little amounts of food. and... i noticed another thing! yesyerday after the taekwondo class - the heartburn disappeared for a while. so i thought it must relate to tension stress or breathing. i will read the article your recommended thank you so much for answering anat ps : you mention foods that are good for this. can you be more specific? I recommend trying peppermint oil - you can find candies that contain the actual oil, or make peppermint tea. It's just a symptom calmer though. You might want to try to find out what your heartburn is trying to tell you. Audrey
Guest guest
Dear Sonya; Do you have a copy of Dr and Usha Lad's Ayurvedic Cooking for Self Healing? There are about 6 or 7 different references and remedies for heartburn. The back section of that book is amazing, by food or herb comonly found in the kitchen, he gives remedies and recipes for all kinds of things! He does not use lemon juice, but does use lime, taking 1/2 fresh, sprinkling with sugar and pinch salt, holding with a roasting fork over open flame to sear the skin well somewhat charred, if I remember correctly, and recommends eating the whole thing. Other simpler remedies are also found, yes, beginning with reducing pitta increasing influences particularly from most sour and strong pungent tastes. A thorough questioning would be helpful to see where the mistaken lifestyle/habits and accumulations are. Love, Martha
