Guest guest
Hi All: The recent conversation about Reiki has been niggling at me, and I think I know why. I am also a Healing Touch Instructor, and I had to go through a great deal of preparation and apprenticeship for that certification. In addition, before a teacher is allowed to move on to teach the next level, they have to repeat the class with the founder of the program teaching in order to see how it is done " correctly " . Every year at the HTI conference and periodically by letter, the Instructors are contacted regarding continuity of curriculum. Before a practitioner advances to their year of mentorship, they take a class that includes a complete review of all the techniques from the program. Why is this important? Well, in particular with HT, there is research being done with several of the modalities, and there needs to be a standard for that. In documentation by practitioners it is important to know that what someone is saying they are doing is in fact what they are doing. It is also very frustrating for an Instructor of an upper level class to get students from several different lower level Instructors who are all teaching a different thing, so that they end up " reteaching " rather than reviewing the standard material in order to move along with the group as a whole. I am all for " doing your own thing " in your office, going with intuition and exploring new possibilities... reading, learning, trying out impressions. But unless a person is willing to develop that into a separate teaching for others, they shouldn't just " tack it on " to what they are already teaching and say there is no difference. It dishonors the spirit of the previous teaching and does not give their own technique a chance to develop on its own. (See what Mina is doing... she is working with her own form and planning to share that, separately) Lastly, I see these " add ons " as taking time away from the legitimate material... any time spent teaching something that is not curriculum is taking away curriculum time or practice time. If there is plenty of time, then fine... otherwise it might be better to offer it as a separate thing, such as " Relating the Chakra System to Reiki " or " Using Reiki to Address the Chakras " . Well, I've run on enough about this. But I never did like my food to mix on my plate and I don't like seeing the prevalent attitude that " it's all the same " running around. It's not. The energies are different, the techniques are different, and the results may not be the same, either. -- Blessings, Crow " Look for Rainbows in the Darkness " -- -- Caroline " Crow " Abreu Hypnotherapy * Healing Touch * Reiki * Chios AIM: CaroCrow ... : NRGbalance URL: http://www.geocities.com/nrgbalance Intuitive Readings: http://www.geocities.com/nrgbalance/readings.html Nam Myoho Renge Kyo Om Mani Padme Hum Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha " We see things not as they are but as we are.
