Guest guest
Hello Crow and anyone else, I am really stressed these days. I've got a new job that starts next month, 200 some miles away. My partner and I decided to try to rent the house we now own so we're doing all kinds of extra stuff to get it ready, as well as starting to pack everything we own. We go to the new location every weekend for a day (or two) to look for the new place we want to buy. (Renting would mean that my partner could not do his self employed job.) So, I'm moving in a month, but I don't know where I'll live. My home life is hectic and not relaxed - no time for much except all the stuff we need to get *done*. Property in the new location is somewhat more expensive than we were hoping for it to be so we're worried that we won't find _Home_. We're leaving a pretty extensive network of friends (though we are moving closer to a couple of _close_ friends). My present job has escalated from being pretty darn lax to being some real work, so I can't relax there either. My back is stiff and I'm having bad dreams that I forget upon getting up. I just know someone is going to tell me that 'it'll all work out' but that doesn't seem to be enough to get me through each long day. I like things to be settled. I don't like a lot of excitement or change. Help? Audrey
Guest guest
Hi Audrey, I really feel for you in this transition time.....Its a big change so don't expect yourself to feel like normal. Other than looking after yourself and being kind and not expecting perfection, I would recommend you read this wonderful book thats such a feel good book and principles to live by.....(Ive read thousands of self help book and this would be one of the few that Im prepared to work the principles) Excuse Me Your Life Is Waiting by Lynn Grabhorn.....Its stunning!!! It'll really help you focus on the positive aspects of your move and show you how not to worry about the things you dont want. Kate
Guest guest
Audrey: It will all work out <LOL> Really, though, this is a good time for you to start practicing taking deep, slow breaths, all the time, whenever you think about it... pause and take a deep, cleansing breath, in and out. Focus on nothing but that breath while you are doing it. (It will probably feel so good, you will want to say " to heck " with everything else and just stand there and breathe ;-) Feel that fresh air down to your toes as you breathe in, and then let it take the stuff with it you don't need as you breathe out again. Better? You seem to have a good handle on everything that is going on, in spite of how you may be feeling about it. Consider that you are in the eye of the storm wherever you are; you can be the one calm spot in all this hectic transition if you take some time to ground and focus yourself periodically. When you start feeling like you're escalating, your mind is chugging like a hamster on a wheel at midnight, take a deep breath. You have all the time you need. Feeling rushed is an illusion. Time can bend for you. You will accomplish more if you can remain calm and focused. Dealing with all this change is like giving birth... of course you will have some ambivalence, but think of the wonderful outcomes. Take the time at night to relax and meditate on pleasant things before sleep, like how happy you will be when all this is over ;-) Visualize yourself in your new home, your things unpacked and put away, everything running smoothly, your job enjoyable and your partner happily busy. Know that if you wrestle with things in your dreams, it's because your mind is staying up late to help you handle the details... so you can rest, that little secretary in your head has everything under control. Home is wherever you and your partner are. The very best place for you to be is where you are, and the next very best place will be where you are going. Keep the faith, maintain your center and throw in a hefty bag full of humor. And take long soaks in the tub. Guest guest
Where are you moving to? Maybe some of us here have some information on the area you're looking at? Some people that I know have suggested lavender essential oil near your pillow to help you sleep better, have you tried any bodywork to help with the stress? " CROW!!! :-] Thank you for your wisdom and calming words. OK, I'm breathing. I am remembering a sign I saw in a new friends house. It says: " Drink water Drink Tea Breathe " -Oh. yeah. (why is this stuff so hard for me to remember?) Audrey
