Guest guest
I've asked that this be taken off list, or perhaps even dropped completely... it's really a moot point to be arguing dietary preference here or anywhere else, people seldom change their minds from arguing. As I said, I appreciate everyone's desires and preferences are different, and I honor individual choice in this matter as much as basic nutritional wisdom. It is a " lit " subject, meaning it leads to flaming and aggravation on both sides, will never be resolved here, and I'd prefer it didn't continue. It's quite obvious that no one is reading anyone else's posts with any strong consideration, and this is starting to be a real drag. Please take it elsewhere. I don't want to have to ask again. Thank you for paying attention to me this time. Blessings, Caroline SWMBO
Guest guest
Its disappointing that you feel that way. I disagree with your interpretation, and despite this email sounding rather " parental " in tone... I respect your views. I never got the sense that anyone was " arguing " and I was reading the emails with " strong consideration. " And unless people are being offensive and inflamitory, why needlessly censor? How can learning and reading about another point of view or side of the debate be " moot? " But hey... you're the moderator, so its your call. I just disagree with your perspective. I would still like to continue learning from the other people who wish to carry on the discussion... so perhaps it would not be stepping outside of the boundaries to ask if they could email me personally with their information at rosebud76 rather than post things to the list. Take care... -Anne-Louise. > Caroline Abreu <carocrow > > Mon, 23 Apr 2001 17:38:11 -0400 > > [ADMIN] I'd Prefer We Avoided This > > I've asked that this be taken off list, or perhaps even dropped completely... > it's > really a moot point to be arguing dietary preference here or anywhere else, > people > seldom change their minds from arguing. Guest guest
Anne-Louise: Yesterday, I asked in an administrative post that we pull back to the focus of this list, which is not diet or dietary preference. Maybe you missed that post. There are other venues for that discussion, as well as off list discussion, which I hope you are able to continue at your leisure on this subject. I am a little disappointed, also, that you feel obligated to challenge me on this when I have asked twice and you have not been moderated or censored up until now ;-/ I'm not trying to be a bully, I've been doing this for several years now and I know what subjects stick pins in people. This is one of them. OK. My last words on the subject. I looked up some links for you on primates, primate diet, evolution, etc. I hope that they are helpful; they are mostly university sites and listings of materials used to feed primates. I am very uncomfortable with fallacious information and took the time to research this for myself, as I believe everyone should, and make their decisions one way or another. http://www.beyondveg.com/nicholson-w/hb/hb-interview1a.shtml http://www.indiana.edu/~origins/teach/P380/primate.html http://www.indiana.edu/~origins/teach/P380/P380L8.html http://www.labdiet.com/5048.htm http://vrp.od.nih.gov/NIHnhp.html http://www.chuckiii.com/Reports/Anthropology/Diet_and_Primate_Evolution.shtml http://www.britannica.com/eb/article?eu=108392 & tocid=51433#51433.toc Thanks, Caroline
Guest guest
Hello... I am sorry if I missed a post, I think I might have. May I ask what you would consider to be topics appropriate to the focus of the list? If I have more of an idea, I am less likely to step on any more toes. =) It is not my intention to cause trouble... I saw a clear connection between diet, the body, and health. I respect your experience as moderator, and if this subject has caused difficulties in the past... then fair play. If it has caused problems again this time around, and sincerely sorry. I had not received any heated emails or emails containing any objections, but I would rather not repeat any discussions that have been volatile in the past. Thank you very much for sharing the websites with me. If I have any questions, I will be sure to email you personally rather than the list. Take care... -Anne-Louise. > Caroline Abreu <carocrow > > Mon, 23 Apr 2001 19:32:07 -0400 > > Re: [ADMIN] I'd Prefer We Avoided This > > Anne-Louise: > > Yesterday, I asked in an administrative post that we pull back to the focus of > this list, which is not diet or dietary preference. Guest guest
Anne-Louise: I know you see a clear connection between diet and health, because there is one ;-) However, I'd like you to go back to the home page for the list and read the list description. This group was started to discuss bodymind issues, and bodymind approaches. There are many, many groups out there with a broader focus, that talk about herbals, medicinals, aromatherapy, homeopathy, ayurveda, diets, etc. etc. I've basically limited the scope of this list to approaches that deal with simple somatic/cognitive/energetic approaches, including looking at emotional and energetic causations. I appreciate all the fine professionals that are members here, and don't mean to offend, but it really helps a list like this to keep a more singular focus for clarity and to make sure that the information is current and correct. Besides, that is what I started the list for, the bodymind approach. I also run a bodyworkers list, which is a closed professional list, and they let fly with everything that affects bodyworkers, but then, they are all screened and the list is private; there is more leeway for professional discussions without the risk that someone will take them as prescriptive. You would be surprised how many people walk off with the subjective advice of a perceived authority in one of these open groups, when in fact, the person just slept in a Holiday Inn Express the night before ;-) I'd be glad to debate with you about diet off list, as Rusty and Ray might be <G> but if diet becomes an additional subject, where does it end? There are far too many subjects for me as a moderator to feel comfortable being responsible researching every time someone enters the forum with a bald statement, and that is what I do... I research things, because I don't need the headache of finding out that fallacious information has been endorsed or spread through a list I moderate. I think it is much better to discuss diet, for instance, on a list that can debate with more scientific intelligence the merits of certain dietary preferences, their histories and their applications. There's an old saying that " a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing " and what that means is, the less you know, the more you may think you know, but the more you know, the more you realize you don't know. Guest guest
Crow... There is a distinct possibility then that perhaps I would benefit more from being on another list. Might you suggest a few groups that have a broader focus? Much appreciated, Anne-Louise.
