Guest guest
Hello Listmembers, I do so enjoy this list and learn so much, although I wish I had more time to savor and jump in to the conversations. But this thread I HAD to respond to. I read Lynn Grabhorn's book, Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting, then moved on to the Abraham tapes and website and exercises. They are all life changing and profound and resonate truth within me, BUT!! In a way, this information is making me crazy, and causing me more stress, because, it seems to be quite a paradox, to get to that feeling place of having what it is that you want, without feeling lack that you don't have it yet. Does anyone else find this incredibly frustrating? Now, if I find myself worrying about the budget, I then think, OH NO! I'm vibrating negatively, attracting more financial worries!!! They actually say, " Never face reality " !!! Does that mean I don't have to ever balance my checkbook? I mean, come on! They even say, if your intention is that whatever you eat will serve your body and bring you health, it doesn't matter what is eaten!! I gotta tell ya, after inhaling too much Easter candy during a stressful period, that just isn't true, at least not for me, maybe because I really believe that chocolate will make me fat. IT DID!! AND, it doesn't help matters that I'm a Pisces, two fish swimming in opposite directions!! So, I always see both sides of the coin. Would really love to hear others take on this, since it sounds like several are reading these books. Love and light, Kathleen
Guest guest
Kathleen, I haven't gotten this book yet, but want to read it after hearing so many good things about it. But I am very familiar with the principles of attraction, and use them in my life. I do believe that we create much more of our reality than we realize, as Rich said. I think it's good to keep our thoughts focused on what we do want, rather than what we don't want. Yet, I don't believe we can attract things that go against the physical laws of the universe (calories for instance). I also think there are other 'laws' that are as yet undiscovered by the scientific community, so I believe there is a lot more that we can do, than we now realize. Like people often say, electricity was available long before we knew it, we just hadn't discovered it yet. I think there might be very specific aspects to attracting and manifesting that we are not aware of yet, so I remain as open as I can be. But I do believe that there is some reality that all the positive thinking in the world is not going to affect. I know others here will think that is limited thinking on my part. There is a chance that we can change things that don't now seem possible, but I think it's as possible as it would be to change our race or hair color or to grow a new limb. We have DNA and we have physical laws. We may never be able to change that or we may someday. For me, it works better to keep my mind on what I do want, while staying grounded in making good choices for my life (i.e. eating balanced meals, not OD'ing on chocolate and trying to move through the stuff I don't want as quickly as possible, not wasting anymore time on it than I have to. Guest guest
Kathleen, I know exactly where you're coming from, but I do remember Lynn saying somewhere near the end of her book that she had something like 17 positive days and 13 negative in the month.... I've been through all the new age guilt stuff, and I dont need to use this book to beat myself up. I did notice a few days after starting her exercises that I was really down, much more than normal, but she did say that its a chemical change happening, and on an emotional level I really think stuff just came up for me to clear out.... I must say in the week that followed starting it I had so much confrontation in my house, but, it's all cleared for the good and I've settled at a much more happier place than before, and I attribute that to reading her book. I'm also not going to try and control my every feeling to make it a happy one, thats stressful, and life isn't just about being happy....I mean, I have things going on in my life that are sad and I need to grieve, Im not going to focus on what I want and make it all good.....I need to remember to do the emotional work as well....life isn't about one formula healing all....I will get to that place of rest by grieving too. I think a period of time each day where you create these feelings has a great impact on your day, its not about intentionally trying being in that state ALL day.... Kate PS: What are the Abraham tapes? Guest guest
Ah, consider the power we have over our own body - Everyone utilizes calories differently than others and (perhaps) that is where we can effect change: in the effect the calories have on the body that we form with our energy and thoughts.
