Guest guest
Sorry about that; at the end of my message to you with the above subject I listed a web site address which was invalid. Try this instead: http://www.crystalinks.com/coralcastle.html I found this address via google, using the search terms: " coral castle " balance There is both text and pictures at the site. Talk about a mystery! I'd enjoy hearing your feedback. Rich Putman
Guest guest
Rich: I watched a program on television about Coral Castle and Edward Leedskalnin, and I must admit, it's pretty fascinating. I suppose the only way we are going to figure out how he created and built his amazing castle and its acoutrements would be to talk to Edward ;-) His claim was, that he had discovered the secrets to magnetic levitation and leverage that had been used to build the pyramids and other " impossible " engineering projects of ancient times. He chose his materials and the location specifically, worked alone, often at night, with minimal tools (it is said he actually put tools around to fool people into thinking he was using them). Since he never married and had no children (he dedicated the castle to his unrequited love interest, " Sweet Sixteen " ) he never shared his secrets and had a knack for knowing when he was being spied on, which was a perpetual hobby of the curious ;-) One of the things that was most amazing to me on the program about his castle was a revolving stone gate that rotated on a central axis (there is a picture of it around the middle of the page you sent), which moved smoothly and freely within a stone doorway as he placed it; but after some sort of accident (probably related to tourism) it was damaged, it took a crew of people to remove the door and replace it ... and it's never moved the same way since.
