Guest guest
Hello Anne-Louise, I loved what you said about being " normal " is being with like-minded people. We teach both magic and shamanism courses and find that this is certainly true. In fact, in the shamanism classes where we have to learn to walk between worlds, we actually get quite clinically psychotic (that is the definition of psychotic - seeing two different realities) but being with like minded people and being in class makes that OK and normal because, well, everyone is. In the tribal systems they used to take apprentice shamans and put them in a space and feed them and care for them when they were going through certain period of their training where they were sort of out to lunch. Too bad we don't have anyone do that for us now, huh? I heard the most wonderful thing today. I've been having a rough time of it lately in a certain sense, but what I heard today seemed to straighten it all out. I was talking to one of my friends over lunch... and somewhere in the conversation I mentioned the word 'normal', and then flippantly said, " whatever normal is. " You see... up until today, I've never really been able to define 'normal'. Its just been one of those grey relative terms that people throw around entirely too easily when they talk about something. And then my friend said the most wonderful thing. He said: " Normal is being with like-minded people. " And that made me smile... because it settled an issue that I had been having in my head for awhile. I love little pockets of inspiration like that. Very rarely do you see them coming, and when they do they are so simple, yet so true. For myself, its a like a poignant reminder of how distracted I can still become with other periferal things that I forget the meaningful things I already know... and what I still have to learn within myself. Most of the important stuff in life is simple yet true, don't you think? Cheers, Anne-Louise.
