Guest guest
Thanks so much for your kind thoughts for my beloved cat Henry - he is sorely missed. We had a wonderful final day - on painkillers, he was on good form, and there was little evidence of any illness (although he was deteriorating fast). He purred his way through Monday, ate a big supper, flirted with a friend of mine all evening, purred his way through the night on my duvet, and had a double breakfast and a relaxed (and purring) morning on Tuesday. I had tears streaming down my face through most of it, trying my damnedest not to give him sad messages, and be upbeat. In the end he died in my arms, his head on my shoulder - the last sounds he heard were my voice and his own purring. If there's such a thing, his was a good dying. The vet left me with him for a bit - and I very clearly heard him purring in my head. Whether it was my imagination or not, it was a blessing. Everyone's been so kind - I've had some wonderful messages and it really helps - so thank you, thank you. love Arabella
Guest guest
As I think you may have discovered, there can be such a thing as a good dying. I was priviledged to share the passing of Sacha, my 15-year-old black cat some ten years ago. In her younger years, Sacha was the boldest cat I've ever known. Riding on my motorcycle was her favorite thing and I don't believe I've ever known a more expressive cat. She slowed down near the end, but was never sick a day in her life that I know of. One day she just lay down by an east window and didn't get back up. we took turns sitting vigil with her for three days until she passed. I think she felt the love, she purred most of the time. In any case, I can think of worse ways to go. Sounds like you did good by him.
