" When you alter your beliefs today you also reprogram your past. As far as

you are concerned the present is your point of action, focus, and power,

and from that point of volition you form both your future and past.

Realizing this, you will understand that you are not at the mercy of a past

over which you have no control. "

This was an interesting concept to me when I learned Reiki II, and we began to

learn how to send energy to the

past and future as well as to remote areas in the present. I have found little

in my life that has had as

profound an effect as the concept that I can heal myself in my own past, or

bolster myself for impending

challenges, by sending myself the energy I need to cope and survive anything

that might happen.

For all I know, within the quantum physics of the way things are, this may be

one reason some people do better

than others in the game of transcending incidents. I feel more open to

receiving the blessed lesson of a

situation when I can look back on my child self, not with pity, but with

compassionate support. And I feel more

confident, knowing that if the sun shines or if it rains tomorrow, I have a

locus of control that does not depend

on the weather around me.
