Guest guest
crow I agree with you completely about gratitude. i remember you onced advised: fake it till you make it... but here i think : we need more than this. if the feeling of gratitude is not sencere - it might become a burden. Although the creator had been soooo kind to me in life and sent me so many blessings - i tend to be forgetful and after a while I can feel some false pride (trait that i'm not proud off), - i still have not figured out why this happens. however i know that a feeling of sencere gratitude is the basis to complete health, balance (why is it so difficult to be in the middle? i tend to fluctuate between the poles, the extremes) and right proportions. to make long story short : it pulls more blessings. Guest guest
it's me again: I told the beautiful joke about " use your dirt " to many people around. they just grinned - but to me this is a wonderful joke - i felt so thrilled when i read it -] and enthusiastic and i think it happened because it resonated so much inside - it was like a mirror reflcting something so strong in side: the false pride, forgetting the real owner of the credit. it made me feel ashame - it moved me so much that's why i adored the story
Guest guest
Anat: Well, shame wasn't where I was aiming, but it's a start ;-) Perhaps we can reach a place of understanding with our dialects again... let's try for the word 'humble': Etymology: Middle English, from Old French, from Latin 'humilis' low, humble, from 'humus' earth; akin to Greek 'chthOn' earth, 'chamai' on the ground 13th century 1 : not proud or haughty : not arrogant 2 : reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission <a humble apology> That's from old Merriam Webster again :-) When I think of the quality of humility, I think of how I feel when I experience something in life that reminds me of the awesome scope of the universe, that makes me feel such honor at being a part of it. There is amazement and joy, as well as respect. Nature never fails to give me those moments, and when I pay attention, nothing else does, either. Like you, Anat... you help me to stay humble. Of course, false gratitude is not really helpful... it's more like ingratiation, and that's not really satisfying on either side. But if by exercising the muscles, taking the time to imagine what it must feel like to be happy, grateful, peaceful, whatever, then it will help you see the brief times you may have experienced the feeling and ignored it or failed to recognize it. That is what it means to " fake it 'til you make it " !
