Guest guest
From Nancy Ashley's out-of-print " Seth Workbook: Creating Your Own Happiness " Exercises from Chapter 11: The Body as a Reflection of Beliefs 1. The media use war metaphors when talking about illness, the " crusade " against cancer, the " victims of AIDS, a virus " invading " the body. What beliefs does such language reveal? Do you think in these terms? If so, how can you change this? 2. What is " wrong " with your body? Make a list. 3. If you were born with some of these " defects, " ask yourself why you chose them (for we do create our reality even before we are born). What lessons are you learning from them? Why call them defects if you are learning from them? Can you begin to see them as gifts? 5. For those " defects " you want to get rid of, what new beliefs can you develop to replace the old ones? For instance, a common belief of obese people is that they are vulnerable and are protecting themselves from the world through a layer of fat without which they would be open " to attack " . What new beliefs could they develop? 6. List any " accidents " you have had in which your body was somehow affected. In each case, look at the events leading up to the accident and those occurring right after it. Can you see what beliefs generated the accident? What beliefs can you replace these with? 7. Think of the illnesses you have had and the circumstances surrounding them. Do you give yourself a cold under certain circumstances? Have you noticed that you always get diarrhea or some other ailment before a stressful event? Does something always seem to " cause " a headache? Do you always get cramps before your period? Do certain things " make you sick " ? Ask yourself what beliefs you have that lead you to create these illnesses. Do you want to change them? 8. What do you believe a healthy body is like? Do you have one? Is there anything you feel you need to do (or not do) in order to attain or maintain health? What would happen if you don't do (or did do) these things? What beliefs are involved here? Do you deserve good health? 9. List at least fifty good things about your body.
