Guest guest
hi everyone I am new to this group and would like to extend greetings to all I was also wondering if anyone has worked with the Alexander Technique, and has any feedback on it. I have just been reading on it and it sounds very good, but i dont know of anyone who is familiar (enough or at all) with it to get some constructive info on it (ie if it is a worthwhile enough practice to seek a teacher in) I know it does involve work in this plane (i notice alot of the postings in this group deal more in extrasensory, & metaphysical etc issues, and i am very interested in these as well) but i find the need to start putting some focus on my body (this vehicle thru which we experience all the facinating aspects of life and existence) as there is little enough time in a lifetime to learn and experience all i could want, and i seek to prolong as well as ehance the resources i have. : ) so any feedback (or any other suggestions along this line (would be of help) thanks
Guest guest
Hello: Well, you don't give us a name, so I can't address you personally :-) Since you're new, you might want to re-read our home page list description at and peruse the archives... the subject matter of the last week is not a great indication of our list focus, which is the body mind connection and various methods we can use, somatic, energetic, psychological, emotional and intellectual, to balance ourselves. I am peripherally familiar with Alexander Technique as a method of spatial body awareness for posture therapy; I haven't had training in it, but as I moderate and participate in several bodywork forums I have heard it mentioned and endorsed many times. Like dance, yoga, tai chi chu'an and other conscious movement forms like the martial arts, there is a very positive aspect to Alexander, the coaching of how we hold ourselves and move by an objective other who can support our gentle movement towards alignment. Since it is not an aggressive therapy, it meets a person where they are. You might want to look up some therapists who utilize Alexander on the Net, and if there isn't anyone here who uses it, you might try the 'massagetherapy' list at for information.
