Hello Connie (and everyone else too!!). You asked about boundaries and the

creation of them. As a massage therapist the creation and use of boundaries

is critical to a successful practice. The client and therapist must feel

totally safe and secure in their individual roles that are played out.

The best book I could recommend would be 'The Educated Heart' by NINA

McINTOSH. ( ISBN # 0-9674122-0-X). It is written mainly for Massage

Therapists, Bodyworkers, and Movement Teachers but I honestly feel everyone

can benefit from the techniques and examples given in this book. Let me know

what you think if you find the book in your local store. Namaste

Dear Matt:

This is very true. Boundaries would be totally essential for you in your

work. And thanks so much for the book info. I definatly will be looking

into this one. As a rule, I get very few massages or any type of work that

involves touch, as I'm lousy with my own boundaries. Not how you would

expect in this situation, but as a sensitive, I pick up too much information

and get overwhelmed, so I shut down my sensory awareness nearly completely

and don't relax well into the experience. I once had a wonderful massage

therapist who worked at my store. Before learning massage, she had been a

nurse assistant and a assistant P.T. No airy fairy fluffy person this. A

big stocky strong woman who never mentioned crystal, spirit, feelings or

modesty. She just went to work like a mechanic on a car. I loved her work,

I could sleep on her table. Very rare. This lovely lady knew how to set a

boundary. !!

Thanks again.

love
