Boundaries and bullies

Anat et al,

Like you, my mother is a tiger. She is also born under a fire sign, Aries.

She also cares deeply for the downtrodden, the victims, the sick, the

unloved. She will crusade for her causes willing to put herself in the

firing line in order to spare people pain.

I lived a very protected life as a child, my mother so willing to fight my

battles for me.

It came as a huge shock to me when I started work as a female in a large

male dominated workplace. I was bullied mercilessly at times and had no

strategies to stand up to these people. Eventually I got the message and

moved on, and once again I found myself sometime down the track in similar

circumstances. This time I chose to learn the lesson, I stayed where I was

and learnt strategies to put boundaries in place. I learnt to look others

in the eye and say I do not like this , I do not like your behaviour, it

causes me discomfort.

I now bless the bullies in my life for the lessons they have to teach me.

They have helped me to become much more compassionate, much more willing to

put myself in anothers shoes and see a different point of view. They have

helped me to discover who I am and what I believe in. I think our struggles

make us strong and give us the oppertunity to grow.
