Does anyone on the list have (or know where I can find) a

chart of the human meridian system either NOT copyrighted or

available to be used for publication by permission?

If you have or know of a source, please email me off the

list.

Hi Joel,

I'm not sure about copyright - you would have to check into that but I

thought I'd send these links and info to the list as I'm sure there are

others who would like to know where to find meridian info online.

Many blessings,

MichelleH

Some information about meridians is available online at:

The Meridians http://classes.colgate.edu/GNED339/acupuncture/meridians.html

The theory of meridians associates each of the twelve important organs of

the body with a particular set of conduits. The Qi circulates along these

channels of the body, thus bringing life. The meridians of each organ

traverse the entire body, and do not really appear to be in any way

connected with that particular organ. It these invisible paths along which

the qi traverses do not correspond to any known anatomical circulatory or

nervous system pathways. They are however very carefully diagramed and

plotted out, with each of the thousand or so points specifically labeled.

Each meridian is equally represented on each side of the body, and each one

is associated with either Yin or Yang. If a person stands with the arms

above the head, all the Yin meridians flow upwards, while the Yang

meridians flow downwards.

The meridian diagrams are not copyrighted. You can not own copyright since

it was discovered long time ago in china.

Michelle...

Thanks for the links.

Max....

I understand that the general charting of the meridians

cannot be copyrighted, but I'm pretty sure that specific

renditions of them, such as the drawings in Donna Eden's

ENERGY MEDICINE, are protected by copyright. Ideally, I

would like to have a digital rendition that is not only

readable (too many of those showing all the meridians and

the acupuncture points on one or two figures are not

readable unless on a wall-sized chart), but also in the

public domain.

Max:

The human body was created thousands and thousands of years ago, but you can

still copyright a drawing of it ;-) I think that is what they are

discussing. You cannot arbitrarily borrow someone else's rendering of the

meridian system unless it is outside of copyright, which an ancient one

might be; but that would probably have to be researched.

It is the same for pictures of the chakra system or physical anatomy.

Someone else's artistic work is copyrighted to them.

Blessings,

Crow
