Guest guest
I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Susan while she was alive, but yesterday, we had tea together. I've been working for a year with three wonderful women in the Boston area, all teachers who are in their practitioner year of Healing Touch and asked me to be their mentor. The year is coming to an end now; all of them have taken IIIB and are sending in their packets for certification review this fall. It has been an intense year for all of us, and I think they have taught me as much if not more than I could ever teach them. Well, part of their beauty is that as their community project they had expanded the Reiki clinic they were already involved in to include Healing Touch, and were all very active in working with clients that needed supportive energy work. One of them was Susan. Susan was a beautiful, fortiesh Jewish woman, busy in her temple and community. She'd helped build a playground, organized food and clothing drives. She was a giver. And she developed a cancer that eventually spread all over her body, taking her strength, but not her spirit, with it. All three of my mentorship students, June, Janet and Helene, worked with Susan on a regular basis. She came to look forward to their visits even on days she turned away all other visitors. For most of this last year, we emailed back and forth with comments and queries about client issues, and Susan was always mentioned. She was so special to all of them. They called me a couple of weeks ago and asked me if I would be up for a special surprise. We made a date for August 8th, and I met them so we could drive into Boston, where June, Janet, Helene and I went, in our summer finery, to High Tea at the Ritz Carlton Hotel... a gift from Susan. When we were cozy around the tea table on our setee and wing chairs, I asked whose idea the tea had been, and with the beauty of memory and tears, they told me Susan had just died over the weekend. Her gift to us became a shiva for her, and we knew, as we brooded and laughed and cried and shared over the delicate sandwiches and aromatic tea, that Susan was sitting right there, listening and nodding, enjoying it as much as we did. I just wanted to share this with all of you. Sometimes we receive so much more than we give, when we serve. Sometimes people go through your life and leave mighty big footprints. --- Hojotoho!, Crow " Look for Rainbows in the Darkness " --- Caroline " Crow " Abreu _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
