Guest guest
I found this article from ABC News after watching the series on The Learning Channel this week called " The Human Face " ; there was a woman in one segment who had mistakenly insisted that a man she had chosen in a lineup was the man who raped her, even after being shown the man later who admitted to the crime... after eleven years in jail, the man she accused was exonorated when DNA proved it was the other man. She spoke of the confusion and embarassment, and the horror of misattributing her memory, initially based on their resemblance, but then on her obsessive familiarity with the man she had accused. If you get the chance to watch the four hour series, it is very good and talks quite a bit about the different centers of the brain that affect facial expression, facial recognition, and memory. This article is about how a memory can be transferred from one place to another in the mind, fooling us into believing that a person was someplace they never were. This is what happens sometimes with false memory syndrome, when a person is led to reassemble bits and pieces of floating childhood memories. http://www.ABCNews.go.com/sections/wnt/DailyNews/memory_misattribution_010807.ht\ ml -- --- Hojotoho!, Crow " Look for Rainbows in the Darkness " --- Caroline " Crow " Abreu AIM: CaroCrow Messenger: NRGbalance MSN Messenger: NRGbalance URL: http://www.geocities.com/nrgbalance Spam Delenda Est!
