Guest guest
Hi Amelia: I am very fond of Sufi poets... the concepts they use of the path of love, of embracing the beloved presence, the recognition of the Godhead in everyone and the correlation of passion for life and adoration of God. Sometimes people read the poetry of Rumi and Omar Khayyam, for instance, purely as celebration of decadence, not understanding that it is metaphorical, like the Psalms or Song of Solomon. Get a good modern translation and dig in! Shams-ud-Din Muhammad Hafiz is a 14th-century Sufi poet. I lifted that gem from a Nasrudin discussion group recently; it is so succinct and pure that it feels like a prayer to me. Let it be!
