Guest guest
Alone On Silent Christmas Eve... The stars went out on Christmas eve, I feel so all alone, the flickering bulbs dress up the tree, reflects the mistletoe. I count the footprints in the snow, I wonder where they go. count the beats heard in my heart, somehow I don't know. For blizzards often come along, they cover up the tracks, and something sadly tells me, they won't be coming back. Chilly winds they strongly blow, cold feelings all around, footprints now are out of sight, snow upon the ground. Whispers of the silent night, should warm a tender heart, last vision of the footprints seen, were so very far apart. The present 'neath the Christmas tree, is better left alone, a quiet prayer I send your way, wherever you may roam. The lights burnt out, like some dreams they're out of sight, a tiny token of my faith now burns, that fills the silent night. O' distance to the heavenly stars, of that night so long ago, wherever footprints lead to, gently bless their very soul. Alone on silent Christmas Eve, a tear may fill the eye, like each footprint in the snow, they seem to say goodbye. For in this stillness all around, I light a candle bright, the child above heals heart and soul, in quietude of night. ©1995 by Harold A.
