new therapies versus traditional

I came from a background in traditional psychotherapy and continue to be

amazed at the incredible effect of these " new " therapies.

I've observed over the years that many people who have gone through a

TRADITIONAL healing education (e.g. medical doctor) become fixed in their

basic paradigms. That is, " If I didn't learn about this basic paradigm when I

was in school then it's likely some form of quackery " . So it's great to see

Sinead, that you haven't fallen into that trap.

I do wonder to what extent people who have been trained in the more

traditional healing arts subtly fight people who doing things in a new way

.... such as EFT. In Minnesota USA I was part of a grass roots effort to get

legislation passed which would protect people who try to help people using

safe, alternative healing methods. It was a real effort, but we did get the

legislation passed.

I recall one local instance where an older man had built up a huge

clientele. He wasn't licensed in anything, so he went on the basis of

donations. A local MD came out to see him, pretending to have some problem.

After the brief treatment was done, the MD handed him a $100 bill. The plan

[scheme really] was that if the practitioner gave him " change " that implied a

specific charge -- But an unlicensed practitioner is not allowed to " charge

fees " for services. The MD hoped to trap him in this way. But the fellow

DECLINED the $100, saying, " I can't accept a donation this large. "

Sinead, two forum tips --

* When you receive the digest and hit REPLY, your software will put something

like Re: Digest Number 817

as the subject. You need to manually change this to something meaningful.

* There is probably a setting you can change in your e-mail software so that

you don't end up sending a complete copy of previous digests along with your

message. A short term solution to this is to delete all of that copied stuff

in your reply window before you start typing your reply message. The best

solution is to copy meaningful short sections [see the beginning of this

message for an example.] to help readers know what you are replying to.
