Hello All:

I do not want to have to put this list back on moderated; it takes up

a lot of my time and I think it is much easier for you to be

courteous than for me to approve every post?

I have asked, and it is requested upon your admission to the group in

the FAQ, that any advertisements for something that is paid for be

run by me before it is posted. That includes products, services and

classes OF ANY KIND. Do not assume that " it is okay " . I don't like

people forwarding things willy nilly to my home email and I certainly

don't appreciate them using this group as a free mailing list for

their stuff. People have a right to get on topic mail that does not

resemble the want ads when they are in a discussion group. It is very

simple to send your requested post to -owner

rather than the group and have me say " yea " or " nay " .

If you have any questions about appropriate subject matter for the

list, we generally discuss the kind of things listed in our list

description on our home page at :

That is all I'm going to say on the matter. Offenders, even people

who may think they are being innocent, will be viewed as passive

aggressive and moderated; if they persist they will be banned. Any

member who is on " no mail " and posts an advertisement will be banned

immediately.

Thanks to those of you who are patient with this, we haven't had this

issue in a while but we have quite a few new members.

Thank you.

Caroline

oops, that looks like my major gaff. It WAS totally innocent, not

intended to create a problem, and it's certainly not making me any

money. Hopefully, this doesn't disparage GeoTran in any way for my blunder.

I cc'd this list because it recognized the mind/body connection,

re: energy work.

I'll return to lurk mode.

Sorry,

Moe

The main thing I would like to emphasize is that a discussion list is

not a bulletin board. Cross posting is rude and often results in many

people getting multiple copies of the same ads. It is

therefore " spamming " . I don't know about you, but I don't like

getting ten copies of something just because I happen to belong to

ten similar lists. When someone sends me something to approve, I

usually approve it, but I expect that respect ;-)

I appreciate your " innocence " but as I said before, the list has been

in operation for three years, and this has always been a requirement.

I insist that advertisements be run by me. I am particular about what

is posted here, not just for myself but for the over 600 people who

belong to the list. I don't want anyone going into " lurk " , I just

feel this is important enough to mention again since it has happened

twice in two days.

Pre-approval also includes plugging other lists here, which I'm sure

you are all aware is a violation of TOS if enforced. Many

people join a list on no mail, only to post ads or plugs and then

quit, which is highly annoying. I'm fairly relaxed about that and

don't push it, but I do get tired of people using the list members

here as a repository for their cross posts and ads.

Thanks.

Caroline

I appreciate this but I also have one question. Is it expected that it

first be run by you if we (I) want to include a URL as a reference to a

class our a course that I found useful or helpful in my journey to

body-mind wholeness?

That is usually fine. I think for the most part folks are aware when

they are doing promotion and when they are simply sharing information

that is helpful; all I ask is that they run the promotions by me

first. In the long run it is easier for everyone when promotions are

vetted by the list manager. I wouldn't be so touchy about it if we

haven't had some problems with it in the past.

I generally prefer that things that are promoted here are free, but I

am aware that isn't always feasible.

Thanks,

Caroline
