Guest guest
The Real Meaning Of Peace Author Unknown " There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them. One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace. The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all. But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest - in perfect peace. Which picture do you think won the prize? The king chose the second picture. Do you know why? " Because, " explained the king, " peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace. " ---------------------- Hello Friends, I found the above story wonderful to read and it brought a sense to inner peace to me when I read it. Something beautiful to think about. I hope you like it. Have a great day. Kindest Regards, Harold http://gemsofthought.tripod.com/poetry/ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). The first is a " picture " of peace for those that fear life and that feel that life controls them, and no matter " what " THEY do, or don't do, nothing they do will work. This is the " viewpoint " of a cow happily chewing his cud while depositing dross in the pasture as the butcher does a couple of practice swings with his sledge-hammer. And the happy cow is in heaven. Why? Because he lacks simple calibration skills, that skills that will remove him from infront of that sledgehammer. The/a " fatalistic " viewpoint shared by most sheeple. The people that have not yet found out what happiness (replacing that non-functional word, " peace " ) really is. The kool thing is, it does vary from person to person so we can consciously choose a " happiness " (placed in the location of " peace " ) that does fit us individually. > The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and >bare. " Rugged and bare mountains " can be a metaphor for " NEW Beginnings " , and " Strength " , and " fortitude " and " perserverence " ...which are all GOOD qualities, are they not? > Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning > played. I don't know what an " angry sky " is. I do " imagine " Zeus (or is it Thor...actually, use any god of choice, because THEY ALL put " choice " in their hands and takes " choice " out of YOUR hands!?), doing his deed...a sheath of lightening bolts grasped in his left hand, and using his right hand to " spear throw " lightening bolts at feeble humans. I also can " imagine " the " GREAT ALL THAT IS " bringing " life " and " energy " to the world in a way that life and energy is given to the world. In both " imaginings " , the first one shows the God of thunder and lightening wrecking havoc on those it feels like blasting down. So, those poor creatures are NOT at cause in that world. They have NO choice in who gets blasted, or not gets blasted. In the second " imaginings " we are all a part of that " life " and that " energy " and may do what we choose. We are proactice in behavior, harnessing the " lighting " , harnessing the winds, doing what man wills, and does do. > Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. >This did not look peaceful at all. Hmmmmmmm? More of the same, to lead the thoughts of the reader one way. I do find it interesting because some of the times most people feel the best is AFTER a thunderstorm, and at the foot of a foaming waterfall. The " negative ions " in the air caused by that action IS VERY BENIFICIAL FOR ALL LIFE. And amazing coincidence, no? I do wonder about the " picture " painted here. The method chosen is for directing the thoughts of the reader one why, which is a sneak question, and " away-from " covert strategy that is made for " mismatchers " to look for the hidden secret. Nicely done. Unfortunately it is not isomorphic enough with reality to install proper feelings covertly in those that you choose to install them to. > But when the king looked closely, Showing that calibration skill is necessary to see what is REALLY THERE, instead of what one " assumes " to be their because of their on personality traits, their own unconscious metaprograms that filter all incoming data though...to look beyond those distortions, those deletions, those generalizations... >he saw behind the waterfall a tiny > bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had >built her nest. So, my question is, " did the mama bird KNOW about the positive effects of negative ions on life? " , so she chose a MOST BENIFICIAL PLACE to rear her young'uns? Or what? Do birds normally build nests behind stormy waterfalls?, or not? I've always seen them in weird places really sheltered from the elements, NOT smack dab in the middle of them. We cannot even use our fireplace until late August or early September, because mama bird loves to fly down the chimmney and build her nest on top of our fireplace insert. Cool. Dry. protected from the predators...unless my boy decides to play a prank on them and start a fire in the fireplace insert. Those poor birds don't have the calibration skills to know they've actually hopped from the nest into the frying pan. Back to your metaphor. Notice the bird is still alive which presupposes that she is wise enough to stay out of the torrent...and probably forages for worms and bugs at the base of the torrent in the slow still pools that collect in meanders below... >There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest - in perfect peace. Being a mama presupposes that there are young'uns, and she is peaceful BECAUSE she is fullfilling the desire to be a " mama " , and NOT the rugged mountains, NOR the stormy sky, NOR the " angry water " have a darn thing to do with that happiness. (snipped part) > " Because, " explained the king, " peace does not mean to be in a place > where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in >the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That >is the real meaning of peace. " Okay. Whatever. The " Law of Allowing " takes over again. Have fun. > I hope you like it. Have a great day. Kindest Regards, Harold Thank you very much Harold. I did like it, though for reasons different than yours.
