Guest guest
Hi E, Whether there is a body/mind connection for acne depends on your belief in the holistic approach. To simplify, think of the times you have flu and your body reflects this in achy muscles, blocked up nose, fevers and your brain just feels like it just wants to rest for a week because it can't function properly. Then imagine a traumatic emotional experience, for instance breaking up with a partner, and the way some people can't cope this, when they develope dull skin, break out in spots, ulcers. If the person with flu decides to carry on with work regardless, they may be suffering, but because they are up and about, but fresh air and their will to get on should give them more energy in the long run to build up their immunity and subsequently fight the infection quicker. Similarly, if the person who has broken up in the relationship decides to look after themselves by sorting out their hair, skin, diet, then of course they will mentally feel better because they are physically better. This is just a simplified way to look at the body/mind connection and I hope you can see the point I'm making. Because the two are interlinked, they will influence each other. There is, if at all, a very fine divide between body and mind, so one should take that into account if trying to lead a healthy life. With regards to 'curing' your problem, there are a few things you initially need to establish. What type of acne is it, when did it begin and has it changed at certain times at all? As I'm Chinese, I have always had the fortunate holistic upbringing, which I took for granted when I was younger because I didn't question it at all. It was simply natural to me. But I do believe that I have lead a reasonably healthy life. I have never had acne, in fact was very lucky to only suffer a few spots in adolescence. My younger brother, however, was not brought up in the same way and he has had acne. Then you compare us with my middle brother, who was initially brought up in the same way as I, but chose to go otherwise, there is a clear mixture of health in him. Of course, I'm not only referring to acne when I talk about what you can help prevent. Your whole immune system and mental state benefits. It takes time and commitment to sort out your body. You need to have a clean diet, ie, lots of fruit and veg, water, lean meat (if possible, no red meat and dairy products), lots of fresh air and exercise. You need to find things in your diet that you are sensitive to and it is a very long process of listening to your body carefully, establishing what works and doesn't. Have minimal intakes of alcohol, caffeine, fatty, spicy, sour foods, processed products, high sugar/salt contents. Quit smoking, have early nights. Not only does it stop there. You need to make sure your surroundings are 'clean' too. Not just in the physical sense of having a good skincare regime, not touching your face with your hands, use hypoallergenic products for your skin and anything that comes into contact with your skin, etc. Have you heard of Feng Shui? If you can get some info for simple guides then you should implement them into your life too. I can give you a few guidelines another time to shorten this email! Mentally, you need to be clutter free. I'm sure you can recognise the times you have had a bad breakout when you've been stressed. It all sounds a bit of a boring lifestyle to lead but believe me, it works! The key is to have as natural a lifestyle as you can (yes, it is natural to minimise man invented byproducts in your life). You need to get a good balance in your lifestyle. Work, but play too, but don't overindulge. Less is more. You need to go to your doctor for an orthodox diagnosis to see how you can help yourself. You might not want to take the prescribed medication, but it makes it easier when you know what you're dealing with. There are several ways of trying to 'cure' the problem. You can try Chinese medicine where the practitioner gives you a load of nasty smelling and tasting herbs to brew, acupuncture, aromatherapy, homeopathy, the list is endless, but take care to find reputable professionals. And don't be disheartened that it doesn't go away quickly. Like I said, it takes time, sometimes, years, but you need to keep a positive mind (there's your connection!) and presevere, persevere and persevere. These are just some of the things you can do to help yourself. There are so many, I could go on, but I shall leave it for now! If you need any more tips, I'll be glad to share them with you. Good luck! Connie
Guest guest
Hi: You may want to read my description of the solar plexus; there are times when a rash or skin eruption may be due to an issue in that area, particularly if there are some unresolved anger problems. You can find the text file in the shared files area of under Chakra files, or go directly to http://www.geocities.com/nrgbalance/rainbow.html and click on Solar Plexus. Hope that helps.
