Guest guest
An interesting morning of Chinese Academy topics. I can't off the top of my head help with the cancer prevention nor know the answers to the Essence of life but about the enigmatic Jeffery Yuen, I have some opinions. The story goes as a child (in Taiwan?) he was used as a medium (as in seances). He is now a Taoist priest and in line of umpteen generation doctors. He, of course, reads Chinese and apparently ancient Chinese. He lectures extensively but does not write about his work. He admits that many of his lectures are " channeled " from " other " spirits. If asked, he can back up most of his ideas very well from classic texts. People have said he tends to be more and more influenced by the enviroment as he needs to create more lecture material. For example, now he is doing lectures on aromatherapy. His acupunture seems to dovetail with Van Niegh (?)(you know that French Vietnamese lineage). So its really not always clear where he gets his material. Usually its hard to ask because any question will spin off into an hour degression. But as I said, generally he can back it up. Lately his lectures have become more understandable as his audience has caught up with him. Whereas they used to be mindblowing, the last one I was at about Spleen Stomach Yin Fire was downright mundane. While his approach may too often give licence to students to " channel " their own spirits and make stuff up, to me Yuen's work is really exciting. By all accounts he seems to have a good amount of integrity. Someday a book is going to come out but it won't be by him. doug I am not familiar with Yuen. > does he provide citations or does he make it clear that his words > are his alone if the latter is the case? > > > e
