OUR GLASS

Our glass of life, is very fragile,

Like a whispy, crystal champagne flute.

The balance of our existence, delicate,

Our days lessoned, by our frailty.

So we debate on, as to whether,

Our glass should be half empty, or full.

Voices now tell us, our measure of success,

Lies in our glass, being completely full.

I say our success is measured not,

In what is kept, but rather that given away.

Our life is given fullness in moments spent,

Memories once lived, lie untouched in hearts.

The only thing that last, are our memories,

Memories of joyous laughter, and of tears.

Reflections of time spent, and love given,

Yet, with each, our glass is more empty.

We should try, to keep our glass empty,

Free our hearts of regrets, unspent moments.

Spend our days, hoping, living, and dreaming,

Loving, forgiving, and holding nothing back ...
