I like to think of it as a universal law that goes something like: " Whatever

you focus your energy and attention upon you'll draw more of into your

experience. "

Notice that as that's stated, it's NEUTRAL. Thus, if a person focuses on the

negative, they'll attract more negative into their lives.

This general question is dealt with a fair amount in " Emotional Freedom

Technique " (EFT). _www.emofree.com_ (http://www.emofree.com) . One factor that

commonly plays a role is described as psychological reversal. For example,

someone SAYS they want to lose weight. But it turns out they say that just

because it's the " politically correct " thing to say. For example, what if

there's a

married lady who's not interested in sex. She figures if she were to lose 80

pounds, she'd look so much better that her husband would be pestering her

more often for sex.

When people who know how to use kinesiology testing have [muscle] tested

people who SAY they want to lose weight, a surprising percentage test that that

is not their true feeling.

Interesting question for sure. Now I can't think that thought would be

enough, but I think thought along with consciousness may be the beginning of the

shift from where we are in a certain situation and where we want to be. Maybe

thoughts (I want to weigh less) can stimulate our consciousness to begin

changing our beliefs (I believe I deserve to weigh less and be more healthy),

which

stimulates our actions (I am going to do something about this to make it

happen). To me thought is the originating factor to begin the change process.

If

it has not made it to my conscious thought how would I know what is to become.

All three are part of the manifestation process as far as I believe.

First, let me introduce myself to this group, as I just joined and got

my first digest. I have an MA in holistic health education from JFK

University, a BA in Asian History from Cal, and last year finally completed

a very long dream and became certified as a hypnotherapist. I have also

been involved in martial arts for 30+ years and have taught professionally

for the past 20. I learned muscle testing through Applied Kinesiology from

my Tai Chi teacher 17 years ago.

So, " is thought enough? " The Chinese say " chi follows yi, " or " energy

follows mind. " Mind, of course, goes much deeper than just conscious

thought and awareness. Like the old blues songs say, our " first mind " comes

from our unconscious understanding, which is usually more true to our real

feelings and motivations than what we rationalize afterwards. Again, the

Chinese teaching is that our conscious mind is the slowest part and often

the last to " know. " This is why, as was pointed out here, muscle testing

can reveal a split between our " should " and our real feeling.

Welcome, Jeff.

Yes, the conscious mind is often the last to know, and verbal

expression follows nonverbal expression follows energetic

expression. The energy " speaks " first.

We have followed different routes but have ended up in similar

places. You might be interested in the Website my co-author and I

I've been studying Uechi-Ryu Okinawan Karate-Do for almost 30

years at this point. Although I've been using hypnosis since high

school, in some ways karate was my official introduction to energy

work.

How is Karate, the Japanese martial art, related to energy and mind?
