Guest guest
The Last Breath As bullets pierce my flesh disconnecting body from soul I move on hoping I’ve fulfilled my life’s goal You see I was a soldier fighting a war Defending my country even though I really didn’t understand what for Defending its honor and pride against strangers I’d never before seen On a battlefield that’s a nightmares dream Flesh and blood falling like rain upon the sand Dotting the landscape with pieces of man And through the horror of it all I continued on Thinking I was helping to pioneer a new dawn... ....of peace and freedom Now as my blood stains the foreign sand and my breath grow short I begin to see the confusion in which I was caught And with my last few breaths I ask to be forgiven for not questioning the source by which I was driven ©2004 Frank E.
