Come join us on September 20, 2004, from 11 a.m. until 2:00 p.m, in Washington DC, for a peaceful parade down Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. from the Washington Islamic Center, through Embassy Row, to the Gandhi Memorial. We will then gather to celebrate with music, internationally acclaimed speakers, an interfaith service, with the keynote address by Representative Dennis Kucinich, recipient of the 2003 Gandhi Peace Award and chief sponsor of the U.S. Department of Peace legislation H.R.1673. (www.dopcampaign.org<about:blank> ) After the plaza-ceremony, the Parade will continue along Mass. Ave. to Dupont Circle. Drawing on the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. King spoke of the power of the human heart to heal, unify, and change our world. He preached, " Our goal is to create a beloved community and this will require a qualitative change in our lives. " The Peace Parade brings people together as a partnership in peace to celebrate Unity and to create cultures based on nonviolence.
