Allow me a brief introduction, I am an R.N. with a degree in Holistic

Health and M.A. candidate. I am highly interested in intuition and

energy work. I have been intuitive all of my life, shut it off for

awhile, then after becoming a Reiki Master - it all flooded back " on "

Thank You Christina, I read your article, it really does a great job at

explaining what Reiki is and how it can be useful. I am somewhat familiar with

Reiki. I have experienced some Reiki work and had great results. I guess what I

am looking for is how do I know if this is something for me to learn, to share

with others. I am very intuitive and have an ability to read and see others

energy's. I have to actually shield myself from continually experiencing others

energy and even thoughts. When I was a part of a hands of light group I was told

my energy was very healing. Many people have told me that. I am most satisfied

and happy when I am serving people in a way that is for their healing. I just

don't know where to start. What modalities to learn and Where to get trained and

how to start serving. Thanks Effie

Hello Ramesh: I think one difference between Reiki and Psychic healing is that

Reiki uses a specific energy that is passed from teacher to student via the

attunement process. Reiki is an intellegent energy, and knows where to go, the

practitioner only has to have pure and good intent to heal.

Having said that, I am also very intuitive (which may or may not be similar to

psychic) I am guided it seems - and often know without having gained any

specific information. I can say that I honor science, medicine and holistic

healing, thus my interest in Integrative Health. I also honor transcendence and

have recently re-read Patanjali.

Reiki may be similar to a meditation, where on the most subtle level, much is

happening. I will visit your site again.
