Guest guest
I have made a new friend, an elderly qigung master, who has been very generous with his time and friendship. Last week, he gave me a beautiful calligraphy scroll which I'd previously admired. I want to visit him today and wish to bring him a gift. However, I have no idea what would be an appropriate token of respect. I was thinking of trying to replant a small bit of bamboo from my garden and placing it in a decorative pot. This, as anyone who grows bamboo knows, will be quite difficult, and I may not have the strength to cut through the rhizome. Any other suggestions? I wish to give him a small gift to show my appreciation for his kindness--his English is limited, my Chinese is non-existant, and I want this to be absolutely appropriate. Thanks in advance.
