Welcome to the group, Trilsie...

Things have been quiet here lately, so be sure to ask questions if you

have them. I am a Reiki Master Teacher, and my co-author is a Certified

Healing Touch Practitioner. In my former life I taught business

communication at the university level. I am now spending most of my time

teaching Energy Medicine and NLP. If you're interested, you can read

more about me on the SCS Web site: www.scs-matters.com

Enjoy, Joel

Thank you Joel for the welcome and link to your site.

I have been exploring and enjoying the site and link outs.

I'm looking forward to this group and it's discussions. I see I have a lot

to learn.

Being very new to some of the areas involved here, I'll most likely listen

and learn for a while, before posing questions and risk being the group

" dunce " . I do love a good discussion though, and most likely will end up

jumping

in, and ending up as comic relief for you at times. All I can say, is

" please have mercy " . Trilsie

Harry,

I am a Registered Radiologic Technologist. I retired 8 years ago.

I am at level one Reiki. I have assisted in a couple healings over the past

few years. I would love to advance levels in my Reiki, but I must admit,

I've been lazy and procrastinated. Many life events, such as moving,

retirement, family needs, has taken me off course and I'm just now getting back

to

" myself " and learning.

I've joined this group, in hopes to learn more from sharing with other

professionals in the various modalities working with the mind, body and spirit.

I have not heard of the Trager methods and looked it up. It sounds

fascinating. Do you work with amputee's and paralysis at all. Or is Trager

more

in the lines of Yoga with a chiropractic twist? Trilsie

Hi Trilsie

Thanks for your reply.

It sounds like you've taken a bit of a 'Pause' to sort

stuff out rather than procrastinated. Sometimes stuff

just needs sorting.

In the Trager community there is a joke that " Trager

is the best kept secret in Bodywork " as nobody has

heard about it.

The Trager Approach is facinating and I have met some

wonderful people who like myself and my partner Julie

are walking the walk as well as talking the talk.

Julie is making a living at this now and when we have

a large enough client base I will be giving up my day

job and doing it full time as well.

Trager work is very gentle and very pleasurable and

not like chiropractic.

I have not worked with an amputee although there is no

reason why I should not. If you have one that you

could refer to me I would be delighted.

I have worked with a couple of stroke victims and

suffers of MS and Julie has a couple of ME clients.

Julie is a British Wheel of Yoga teacher and I am an

Aikido instructor. We both liken Trager to our other

disciplines but this is only our personal experience.

As all martial art and bodywork have common roots and

links, there are similarities with Trager and other

modalities. However I regard all disciplines in this

field as a common language but with different accents.

Our Trager Journey began in 2004 and I wish I had

found it 20years ago.

If you are ever in the Guildford area, come and have a

session!

I would be pleased to hear from you again.

Regards

Harry

An excellent metaphor....

Hi Joel

Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.

Some people in the Trager Community have said that the Trager Approach

is the " best kept secret in bodywork " .

Your question reinforces this and unfortunately it is all to often

asked.

It is not intentionally secretive, it's just that Trager Practitioners

are good at bodywork and not so good at marketing.

What is it all about? Well that is the big question. For the history

and origin of the 'Work' please visit www.trager.co.uk or www.trager.com

For me it was a bit of a revelation. I am an Engineer by trade, an

Aikido practitioner of 30+years and a sceptic by nature. With my

engineering head on I want facts and figures, I want proof that it

works. With my martial arts head on I have to 'feel' it and see it to

know it works.

Well I have received both. As you will know the body is hard wired to

recieve 'touch' and sensory input. I have received many different

forms of bodywork but none have come close to my experience of Trager

Work.

If you ever visit Guildford, Surrey, England I would be pleased to

offer you a session. Otherwise please find a practitioner in your area

on the above websites and have a go. I promise you will enjoy the

experience.

Verbal descriptions fall far short of the experience. It's like

reading a book then seeing the film. The film seldom comes close to

the book.

For me the esoteric elements of Trager Work are as important as the

physical side and they are mutually supportive of each other. This

parallels my experience of my Aikido practice.

Dr Milton Trager Described this work as " being in a vast ocean of

pleasantness " . However this description (for me) is only the tip of

the ice berg.

I probably have not come close to answering your questions but I hope

it invites curiosity and prompts you to investigate further and find a

Trager Practitioner close to you.

Regards

Thank you. Before I'll have a chance to visit England, we'll need a new

president and new economic policy. Right now the exchange rate makes

travel difficult for most of us from the States. It would also help if

we could once again make the world glad to have visitors from the U.S. I

am sure that I would enjoy trading energy work and working out with you.

My sensei is primarily Uechi-ryu, but he is also ranked in Aikido, so we

spend some time working on Aikido techniques.

I find that the more I study Energy Medicine and the martial arts, the

more similarities I find between/among styles. I find it all interesting....
