I think that proper breathing practice can help overcome anxiety but it should be something we do all the time and not just when we feel anxiety or stress coming towards us. I will try to explain to you how I teach meditation breathing. All the detail instructions are on my Blog so you can go there also if you wish. I can send you an invitation if you want. How to breathe. Feel the point in your lower stomach below your navel- maybe a handspan below and as you breathe in deeply you will feel the air filling that lower part of your stomach. this is the depth to which you should practice breathing. Breathing all the way into that area and then breathing all the way out again. fully release all the air from your stomach and lungs and then breathe in again the same way. Now as you do this you can let your mind follow the breathing- all the way in and all the way out-do not force the breath-take it very calmly and peacefully. Remember you can say to yourself as you breathe " I am breathing in peace and calm " - " I am breathing out peace and calm " or as you breathe out you can say " I am radiating peace and calm around me " . Keep your body still and your eyes gently closed. But you can still do this of course with your eyes open as you do other things. The most important thing is to continue to focus on the breathing. Another thing with the breathing is to learn to relax your body. With every out breath relax your body more. Keep relaxing as you breathe. Let go the grip you have on your body. Become calm and peaceful doing this practice. Practice it often. Do it as meditation quietly with your eyes closed. Always be gentle with yourself as you do this. Do not breathe hard or strong-just be soft and gentle. Practice this anywhere and anytime. You can even do this when you are walking, cleaning, having a bath or shower. Even when talking to other people or watching TV. I hope this is of help to you and may you always be well, peaceful and happy. > Hi all, > My name is Trina, > I read the posts alot but don't write many. > > I'm having a problem. I'm having a problem. I have had anxiety issues since I was a teenager, but have had it mostly under control. However, lately, I am under a lot of stress and the anxiety has returned. About a month ago I began to notice I was feeling very dizzy, and my face and hands would tingle. I realized I was hyperventilating without knowing it. I tried a simple abdominal breathing exercise last night after feeling dizzy all day. Within a short time, I felt fine. I would love some breathing exercises from anyone that has any to share. The dizziness and tingling disappears when I relax or meditate, so I know there is nothing physically wrong with me. Thanks so much, Trina Be a better Globetrotter. Guest guest
Hi Trina, I went through this last summer accompanied by some debilitating depression. In addition the dizziness and the tingling I was also seeing little white spots or losing my vision all together and seeing nothing but white light. I was scared to say the least! lol... anyway I found this site on acupressure and at the very bottom it has a breathing technique that helped me immensely. You may also want to browse around for anxiety and see what comes up. Lots of love to you, Kat Acupressure, meridian points, acupressure for depression, Depression, Traditional , TCM for depression, acupr.. , " Catherine " <trina83 wrote: > > Hi all, > My name is Trina, > I read the posts alot but don't write many. > > I'm having a problem.
