Guest guest
Bonjour Healers and Bodyworkers, After reading some of the writings that I have been receiving on Bodymind, I decided to forward this information for anyone who might be interested. Please feel free to forward to your friends or people who might enjoy this type of workshop. It totally relates to the whole bodymind concept. Namaste, Sharon Hartnett Falling in Love with Your Imperfect Self A Hakomi experiential workshop for psychotherapists, medical, body and energy practitioners, substance abuse counselors, educators, clergy, and those interested in personal growth and healing. May be used to fulfill the experiential workshop pre-requisite for application to the Hakomi Comprehensive training which begins March 6. Saturday & Sunday, October 6-7, 2007 9:30 am - 5:30 pm Held at Pleasant Grove Church, 8700 Lewinsville Rd, McLean, VA 22102 “If we can accept our imperfections as they are, quite ordinarily, then we can use them as part of the path. But, if we try to get rid of our imperfections, then they will become enemies, obstacles on our road to self improvement.†Chogyam Trunpga Most of us feel pressured to “reach our potential,†yet secretly long to accept ourselves exactly as we are. Systems theory tells us that this tension exists at the cellular level of all living beings. We are hardwired to both preserve “what works,†and evolve to meet the complexities and challenges of life. But, when does the challenge to “be all that we can be†turn into the “ tyranny of perfection When do our self-improvement efforts reinforce feelings of inadequacy and stifle the expression of our authentic self? Many traditions claim that self-acceptance, paradoxically, opens the door to change and that our so-called flaws contain our greatest strengths. In this highly experiential workshop, participants use the gentle, yet powerful tools of the Hakomi Method to celebrate our perfectly imperfect selves. We will use Mindfulness, Contact & Tracking, Taking Over and other “Little Experiments†to integrate changes we have made already and explore stuck places while learning to assist others in this process. If you long for a safe space in which to do your own work, while learning powerful mind-body skills to improve our work with others, please join us in this workshop. Hakomi is a mindfulness-based, experiential psychotherapy that promotes core-level change. Therapists cultivate a high level of attunement to others, which in turn creates a deep sense of safety and connection for clients. Course Objectives: * Understand the paradoxical relationship between acceptance and change * Differentiate between healthy and shame-based self-improvement efforts * Harness intrinsic healing resources * Access and transform limiting core beliefs using mindfulness * Use mindfulness to stay present to painful thoughts & feelings without acting out or avoiding Instructor: Maci Tater is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Hakomi Trainer with 20 years experience in social service, university, hospital, employee assistance and private practice settings.
