" Joyce Carol Oates I've been " out of pocket " lately, writhing in my writing and contemplating the minutiae of the moment. Keep up the excellent dialogue, I can see that you are handling things on your own and do not need me... as I sit back and muse on a post it seems that someone emerges with a comment very like what I would have said myself, and I am content with that. I am enjoying being a lurker and listener. You are all very wise. Mani and I were discussing relationships this weekend, having looked at a website for Couples Retreats and such, and laughingly wondered if it was truly possible to teach anyone how to have a good relationship; if you have one, you often don't know how you got it, and if you don't have one, you're not much of an example ;-) If I had one bit of advice for anyone, it would be to say " Be a Giver. Find a Giver. Make a Home by Loving and Giving. " I think as a generation people have forgotten how to compromise, imagining that it is a weakness, when in a relationship it is the flexibility that keeps storms from blowing the structure away. The best quote I gleaned this weekend from a fellow poet's work in one of the critique boards is something to consider... " Giving up... makes me angry... Letting go... requires tremendous courage.
