Guest guest
I know this is off topic but I am looking for help for my dear pet. Against my better judgement I allowed my 5 lb 10 year old dog to be vaccinated today in order to be allowed at the kennel I must sometimes leave her at. Now she is running a fever and shaking and won't eat. I have given her a smidgen of CLO, vitamin E, and a little vit C. Does anyone have any ideas what else I can do to help her or of any internet sites I can look at as far as what vitamins are safe for dogs and dosages?? Guest guest
You could mix in some garlic oil, or actual garlic, into her food. Another thing to try would be goldenseal root. If the bitter, really bitter, taste makes her not eat, then give her some capsules of it. When I make my herbal teas, I usually take at least some of the the leftover and spread it on the dogs' food. They eat it up like it wasn't there. And I've not seen something that I eat end up hurting the dogs. I know that things they eat aren't necessarily right for me, but pretty much everything I eat is ok for them (if its really ok for me). Not scientific about it, just my experience. The garlic and the goldenseal both are bacteria and virus destroyers. If the dog actually had something like rabies I don't know whether that would work or not. You don't say what she was vaccinated for, but I can't be specific like that anyways. Hope it helps though. Guest guest
Did you know that you can order your own vaccines from outfits like K-Vet? They only cost a few dollars, and when you take poochie to the kennel, you simply tell them that you gave the vaccines yourself, and list the vaccine numbers from their bottles, with their expiration date. You will be paying around $3-10, vs paying the vet $50-100. You can also order " vaccine certificates " and schedules to fill out and show " you " did them. Call ahead of time to be sure they will accept your word that you did them yourself. Most breeders can't afford to pay a vet, so it's very common for kennels to have customers who do them at home. Now, whether you actually administer them or not... Note that most states require you to get rabies from the vet. But the DHLPP and kennel cough can all be done by you.
