Guest guest
Hi all. I just wanted to intro myself to the group. My name is Dave and reside just north of New Orleans in a town called Slidell. I'm 48 and just can't believe I'm getting this old..lol...Anyway my attention has been swayed of late to a problem I'm having and haven't been able to put my finger on the cure....First of all I started a diet last year around October to drop about thirty-five pounds....A friend at work had started on the Atkins diet and was doing quite well....He seemed to still be eating quite well but just had changed some of his habits...So I joined in and made a goal of getting to 190 pounds. My first hurdle though was finding a sugar substitute....I am a coffee drinker....at least four or five cups a day and would usually put a couple of spoons of sugar in.....another sugar prob I had was in the evening...I loved to get on my computer and drink cokes.....about three of four a night.....I decided on just giving up the cokes and drink some green tea instead.....but the coffee posed a different problem....Decided to use the sucralose. Well it just tasted like sugar and the brief check I did of it, said that it was made from sugar...etc....Well this worked out great....I was off all the sugar and the pounds came off rather fast....before I knew it I had dropped ten pounds down to 215 and then ten more down to 205. With all this being great and all and get such nice compliments I noticed I was developing a problem....My face had broken out in red splotches and were even getting scaly....I thought it may have been some sugar detox of some kind and really didn't think much of it....but it got worse and before I knew it I had a patch on my body and several different ones on my left leg close to my ankle....I developed a rather severe case of dandruff from hell and was getting embarassed to show my head and started wearing a ball cap....I went to the dermatologist who said I had psoriasis....but what gets me is that I went from a 1 to a 7 stage in a months time and it still continues to grow and grow...I notice a new place nearly every day now and my scalp just itches all day long and I have developed a bad habit of itching my head....needless to say this has got me on the look to find out why all of a sudden I developed this awful case....Until yesterday I just felt cursed or something until I had a thought of the Splenda.....it was the one thing I started using which directly coincided with my skin problem....I decided to look it up on the net and found there were not too many case studies on this and I wondered how it got approved so easily...I then read of several different people who had terrible reactions to it and one who also had a skin irritation related to it....I thought on it for some time and decided that the Splenda has got to be what is causing this outbreak.....so yesterday I 86 the box of I had just purchased and am thinking of some areas to detox my body from this agent.....They use chlorine to break down sugar and well not being a chemist I really don't have any credentials but I know that chlorine is pretty toxic......Well enough of my ramblings but this is where I am today and I am in search of a cure and am open to any of you who may have had a similar problem....and just what to do now....is on my mind...lol.....I just hope that if this product is toxic to some people I hope I haven't gone over the live to where I have done some permanent damage......Well it is nice to be here and I do hope to get to know some of you.....Take care.. God Bless Dave
Guest guest
Dave, Sounds like you are not doing your homework. Any good health program requires a few basics: 1) Stop all caffeine products. 2) Stop all sugar products. 3) drink lots of water, I prefer distilled for it's cleanlyness 4) keep your colon clean with lots of pyslium seed husks 5) eat mostly raw fruits and vegetables. 6) you don't really need to eat meat but if you do make sure it is organic raised mercy killed hormone free 7) No fried foods, no oils except Virgin Olive and Flax seed oil My experience is that skin problems arise when the kidneys are overloaded. This happens because you are putting poison in your body and your colon is over loaded. Just a quick basic lesson in the true dietary guidelines. Guest guest
Jerry, I do not believe that distilled water “leeches” out minerals. Why should it? Since the body is composed of mostly water, when I put good pure h20 into my body it merges with all other molecules, elements, minerals. Perhaps the amount of minerals in my body is less than someone who drinks heavily mineralized water, but it certainly will not leech out minerals. This is a false statement that has been around for years and has absolutely no basis in fact. Dilution might be a better term., but again this comes from bad AMA science. But while I ‘m on the subject, drinking natural spring water is risky these days. What with air borne chemicals falling into the springs source and entering the water thus your body, it is far better to drink distilled and be sure that no poisons are getting in through your water. If you are worried about your bodies mineral balance, then take a good mineral supplement! The truth of the matter is the only safe water to drink is distilled because it is pure! Disease is caused by pollution and parasites and little else. Try and keep your body as pure as you can. Guest guest
Jerry, I would love to hear YOUR reasoning. I am interested in thinking this through as a group. I don’t have an answer that I am attached to, but I would tend to think that the body can handle reasonable amounts of distilled water. Too much of ANYTHING can be harmful of course, but the body’s homeostatic systems are great at responding to fluctuations in various parameters. Why should this be any different? Guest guest
Terry, The body attempts to maintain homeostasis - but it needs the right chemistry to do it. Give it too much salt - or not enough - and it has problems. "Soft water" areas, low in magnesium, for example, have more cardiac problems. At one time, the doctors at the International Academy of Preventive Medicine were high on "pure" distilled water - but it only lasted for a short while. They all got off of it when they realized what harm they were doing. First rule in getting good information: Know your source. A lot of posters have good intentions, but they are working on intuition that may often be less than accurate in the real-life world. In '76 I was president of The International Academy of Preventive Medicine - knew them all and had great respect for what was discussed, etc. Jerry M. Guest guest
I've been drinking distilled water for 30 years, and have numerous friends that routinely drink distilled water. Neither I, nor anyone of these people have any symptoms of mineral deficiency. It occurs to me, that I and my friends, all consume diets very high in fresh, organic, fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds and some fish; all of which are loaded with all the minerals, in huge amounts. I also take various minerals as supplements, including a trace-mineral-complex supplement. I wouldn't drink anything but distilled water, which tastes satisfying and delicious to me, and which is as close to 100% free of all the pollutants and toxins found everywhere in the entire global water supply, as I could wish. - Jerry Mittelman Monday, May 19, 2003 8:25 AM Re: Hi !
