Old because I'm seventy going on 130. That's the ripe old age I tell folks I will live to. Going strong so far and not on any meds except for an occasional aspirin.

I have been interested in all of the alternative self repairs I can get my hands on for years. I dose up on vitamins, minerals and a few herbs and another concoction or two along with colloidal silver. I also have one of Hulda Clark's latest Zappers.

I am dead set against the AMA and the FDA and Monsanto and all the other drivel connected with them. I think the American Cancer society is a fraud.

Their so called cure for cancer has been right around the corner for over the past 50 years. They won't find a cure that they don't already have cause if they did, half the medical profession would go broke.

I'm glad to make your acquaintance and I hope I haven't stepped on any toes here.

Hello Harvey and everyone else,

I’m also a newbie.  I have been interested in “health and

natural healing”  for as long as I can remember.  I use plant-based enzymes, probiotics, and plant-based supplements, which seems to

work for me.  I’m a vegetarian and

live with a hubby who is not (not much fun fixing meals every night!!).  I also live with a dog and 3 cats, who are

all growing old gracefully along with me.

So far on this list, I have seen people

posting only website links or articles from websites – but no “chatting”.  So I was wondering – is that what we

are supposed to do – just post links when we find something of interest?

Hi Harvey....

I can tell you're my kind of people! Your thoughts on the American Cancer Association is definitely "right on"!! Have you ever tried to share that thought on the "cure for cancer" with someone who's totally misinformed? The look on their faces is beyond description...for just a moment it appears it makes sense to them...but then they (usually) are unable to comprehend such an incrediably wicked idea!

Wanted to share a couple sites with you and the rest of the group...check these out....

http://www.chiro.org/nutrition/ABSTRACTS/Nutrient_Depletion.shtml Absolutely blew me away when I really realized what medication does to us!! More doctors need to practice what Dr. Derrick DeSIlva refers to as "intergrated medicine"...meaning using pharmecuticals but also prescribing the nutrients that the drugs will deplete...only makes sense.

http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2002/oct2002_awsi_01.html

Have you ever heard of Dr. Ron Shuler with the Life Extension Foundation and his thoughts on the complex polysacharride "fucoidan"? Some pretty incrediable information!

If you go to this site http://www.limu4u.deiteam.com/content.asp?page_id=42

and click on 11-11-02, 8-19-02 and even 8-26-02 you'll hear Dr. Shuler (and I believe Dr. DeSilva) as well as several other (well informed) Dr.'s discuss the effect of nutrition and especially this fuciodan substance has on the human body. You could also go to PubMed at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/ and just type in the word fucoidan.

If you're interested in health and nutrition you need to check this out..changed our lives!

Hi Harvey and Carol. On the displasia I would recommend you go to www.dogtorj.com and read up on "The Answer". This guy is a veterinarian who discovered that grains in animal food caused all manner of illness in pets; displasia is one.

This group has a little chat, but mostly articles. If you want more chat regarding health you might join Excellentthings

Well Carol, let's give this chat business a try and we will see if we are among friendlies. You mentioned your pets. It has been years since I had a cat and years since I have not been without a dog. My present dog is 14 of our years and has just recently developed hip displacia or arthritis. Is there a way to tell the difference? Sheeba is a quarter each of Malamute, Husky, Shepherd and wolf. An occasional crushed aspirin seems to help. She has trouble getting up from a sitting position, any ideas anybody?

Also, both of my lower legs, especially the shins, have itched intensely for the past couple of years. I tried all sorts of stuff along with a bunch of snake oils. Just recently I tried some stuff call Limu Moui that hails from the Tonga Islands and after an ounce a day for about three weeks the itching has vanished.

A little trick I heard about on another list for sore spots or areas on your body but havent tried yet is to dislove an aspirin in water and add some MSM to it and apply topically to the hurting area. Aspirin by itself will not penetrate the skin but the MSM will carry it through the skin and right to the affected area.

Has anybody on the list tried growing their own Stevia? I have heard the seeds are difficult to sprout but the ones that do will survive will do well.

Hi Harvey and all,

Sorry about your dog. A lot of the bigger breed dogs do get that

problem. I’ll tell you what I did

with my dog who I had several years ago, who has since

died of old age at the ripe old age of 18 – she was a cross between a

german shepherd and a collie. First of all what is she eating? Just regular store-bought processed, cooked,

preserved dog food? If so, you may want

to change her diet to be more of what dogs used to eat before we took over

their diets. Not to say you have to go

out and kill rabbits for her to eat (but actually that wouldn’t be a bad

idea). Now that we have started feeding them diets high in preservatives, high in artificial

ingredients, low or no enzymes

because it’s all cooked and processed – they suffer from the same

degenerative diseases that people do (which is caused by pretty much the same lack of

“non-food” that we eat). So

I would say to visit a pet health food store, and they would probably recommend a

good dog food that is more natural that all the store “junk pet foods”. My animals are on “Wysong” which

is actually human grade food, but for pets.

My dog, once she got to about 14 or 15 wasn’t

able to get up very well, I would have to lift up her

back end. Then I would help her down the

stairs to go outside, then help her back up again, and all she would do is lay

around all day, until I made her go outside to pee. I started giving her plant-based enzymes,

probiotics, and a wild blue green algae (which added

some wild back into her diet). I

noticed a difference in about 4 days – she was getting up by herself, and

a few more days she was even chasing the cats again. She ate those supplements and

that kind of food until she just give up at about 18

yrs old. What’s so great about

giving this stuff to an animal, is that there is no placebo effect – animals

don’t know what you are giving them should make them feel better.

I’ve never heard of Limu Moui –

that’s great that it helped you.

I never tried the stevia plants.

Nice going, Harvey. I've been around since December 1939 and, since the seventies, been declaring I intend to "live forever" or, at least, to 120 and thereby outlive my enemies and I continue to thereby, figurtively, stick out my tongue at the Undertaker.

My lawn and garden have been chemical-free ("organic") since the sixties; I "kitchen sprout" clover rather than alfalfa; freeze or dehydrate rather than preserve by "canning;" and have little or nothing in common with my chronological peers except when I look into a mirror and am thereby reminded I am older than I feel.

Praise God, had it not been for the "accidental" discovery back in the sixties that my middle child and I had been/was still being poisoned by a medically-prescribed fluoride supplement, I'd probably have been dead by the late seventies and that aforementioned child would probably have become a mental defective.

As a subsequence of that sixties era discovery (and for purpose of brevity) numerous things occured which herded me into plunging totally into non-toxic alternative health care and disease prevention. Been there, successfully, ever since.

For over 35 years have not and do not intend to use Establishment medical services except for an occasional consultation with my wholistic MD and/or ND (Naturopath). Our primary health care practicioner is a DC (Chiropractor) who is also schooled in crainial adjustment. Am living proof that one can regain/maintain and survive without the aid of drugs or unnecessary surgery and within the past three decades have successfully dealth with and overcome chronic upper respiratory problems, including pneumonia, as well as arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, hair loss, CFS, thyroid problems, among others.

The most recent was an inadvertent bout with fluoride poisoning due to having been served cookies sweetened with a fluoride-base artificial sweetener (eg. Nutrasweet, Sugartwin, Equal--anything containing aspertame) and I'd no sooner recovered from this chemical insult when the Spokane Valley, where I've lived since 1977, experienced its "worst-ever air inversion." Because it has a municipal waste incinerator (since 8/91) this means it "enjoys" additional relatively-unmonitored fluoride gas and particulate air pollution in addition to wind-drifted Ag chemicals and the usual (fluorine gas containing) gasoline and diesel engin exhaust.

But I digress from my intended missive which was to comment on the "occasional aspirin" statement by encouraging a larger frame of reference.

Science News Desk did a search recently and found that over 50% of all drugs in use now contain fluoride. I subsequently reported this last Fall to the Spokane Regional Health District Board of Health (in my, now, along with several other concerned citizens, seven years of faithfully showing up to share with them the latest on fluorides and water fluoridation so that they might thereby be less vulnerable to the well-heeled pro-fluoridation lobby.

Since there is no "natural" ingredient aspirin produced now; its all synthetic, patentable, ingredients--unless you are using a white willow bark supplement from the health food store--I wouldn't be sirprised to learn one's aspirin could be a source of unmonitored fluoride in yo--one's internal biochemical invironment.

To oversimplify the results of three decades of document research, I first learned in the seventies the presence of pain primarily indicates a magnesium deficiency (Mg is vital to enzyme synthesis in over 5000 processes at the cellular level). Best to consume foods high in this mineral (which is very deficient in the American diet since its source is raw, preferably "certified organically-grown" nuts, seeds and root vegetables--all of which are not a part of the SAD (standard American diet) in today's society.

A couple of other tidbits: Mg must have vit B6 available in order to be used--especially in the biosynthecizing of cellular enzymes (another reason for consuming a diet adequate in raw vegetables and fruit--a source of some B6 as well as the non-nutritive plant sugars which are food for the gut bacteria which are part of one's immune system and which also produce B6 when they feed upon these natural plant sugars).

Sometimes a diet inadequate in protein (or too high in protein) and/or inadequate in raw vegetables can be a reason for pain other than the usual reason which can be the presence of tissue trauma or toxins--usually from fluoridated water and/or drugs--of which nicotine, caffein, and alcohol can be included.

Toxins, regardless of the source--whether drug, food or water-borne or from dermal contact or air pollution--require the body's "detox lab," the liver, to draw upon available detox materials, primarily calcium, magnesium and protein, to transmutate one product into another which is less or non-toxic in order to rid the body of it via the acceptable avenues of outlet, the sweat, urine or feces or, if unable to accomplish this, will then store it in fat tissue.

That's a whole 'nuther story, about how "F," because it is an enzyme poison, will disallow the synthecizing of the phosphopyruvalenervate enzyme---the absence of which forces the body to put on fat because it lacks this enzyme by which sugars and starches are converted to energy.

Interesting note: At the monthly BOH meetings now, throughout the nation, the chief concern of the U.S. PHS is the endemic of obesity in this nation now. Well, in my opinion, what can they expect? The USPHS went public in 1950 (June ADA Newsletter, same year) and told everyone to fluoridate their public water supplies. Now, more than 60 percent of this nation is fluoridated!

Which reminds me, in parting I must add that an earlier Email listed the 50 cities in this nation which are highest in allergies. I intend to check my CDC-source "FLUORIDATION CENSUS" to verify what a cursory glance indicated: many of them I know to already be fluoridated in one way or another.

I do have to say, there are some friendlies on this list. I thank you all that responded. I will go the Vitamin C route and change dog food brands. I have been feeding her Kirkland brand lamb, meal and rice formula dry food with a third of a can of the same brand and formula added for taste. Kirkland is one of the brands sold at Costco. I tried a brand made by Dynamite Marketing at www.dynamitemarketing.com which was very highly recommended to me but it made no change.

Thank you all again for your various tips and suggestions
