Guest guest
I bought some Spirulina in the health food store and when I went to take it, it smelt so bad I decided not to. Does Spirulina smell bad naturally or might I have gotten a rotten batch? I bought some blue/green algae pills there that smelled okay and I am taking those. Guest guest
I’m not sure – it shouldn’t smell bad I don’t think. It may smell like the ocean, like when you walk along the beach and pick up shells. Is that the smell, or was it like a rancid smell? Guest guest
It's very, very strong like dirty feet or something. I should have taken it back to see what they said about it. Guest guest
An herb that smells much like dirty feet is valerian root. Would it be possible for batches of material to get mixed up at processing and mislabeled? Sorry to interrupt. Guest guest
Ed, it is dark green though. Is Valorian root dark green? It looks just like the green algae I bought only the green algae smells okay or good even. I pay attention to smells. I think we were intended to so I haven't used any. Will most probably throw it away. Perhaps take it by health food store just to see what they say. barb p.s. The most often thing my nose turns me away from is meat actually. Although many a steak smells great but freq deli or processed sliced meat, franks, etc. p-whew!! Raw fish and chicken not so hot, but almost odorless when they are fresh...but I'm getting side-tracked. --- Ed Siceloff <siceloff wrote: > An herb that smells much like dirty feet is > valerian root. Guest guest
Sidetracking aside, throw it away. Valerian would be useful if you knew that it was valerian. Sounds as if it is not. Valerian root is not green. Valerian root is the only thing that I ever ate that smelled rank. I knew it did, I knew what it did, I knew that what I had was valerian root. Maybe you could get your money back? Ed - " Barb " <barb1283 Friday, July 04, 2003 7:15 PM Re: Re: Super Foods - Carol > Ed, it is dark green though. Is Valorian root > dark green? Guest guest
Yeh, it sounds like you got a bad batch. You were smart not to take any. Carol Barb [barb1283] It's very, very strong like dirty feet or something. I should have taken it back to see what they said about it. I didn't have the stomach to take it. barb --- Carol Minnick <carolminnick wrote: > I'm not sure - it shouldn't smell bad I don't > think.
