Hope For Abandoned Baby With 3 Legs A 1-year-old baby girl who was born with three legs was abandoned by her parents on the streets of Beijing. But there is hope. Rescued in March by Beijing police and taken to the Dongzhimen Hospital in the Chinese capital, the girl will soon undergo risky surgery to remove the third limb. There is a bit of good news this week for Ali, the Iraqi war orphan who lost both his arms in a bombing raid. The Associated Press reports that physicians plan to study the limb for 20 days before performing the surgery. "The operation will be as difficult as separating Siamese twins," a doctor, who would only give his surname, Qu, told AP. The leg is growing out of her back and has started to cause deformities on her lower body. "The leg has a nerve in it connecting it to the spine," Qu explained to AP. "This makes separating the leg very difficult." See a photo of conjoined twins in New Delhi, India whose parents are considering abandonment. Dongzhimen Hospital is offering its services free to the orphan girl. If you love animals, you'll enjoy this miracle story about a dog named Quentin.
