Guest guest
Hi Friends, I just read a recipe for natural repellant equal to DEET. I saw this in a Better Homes- type magazine. 2 cups catnip to 2 cups vinegar. Chop catnip and put in vinegar. Put in a cool dark place for a few weeks. Strain and use in sprayer. They did say it was equal protection to DEET. Haven't tried it yet. But I bought my catnip herb. Deb

Did it say white vinegar or cider vinegar? And you’re supposed to spray it on yourself? Or just the area around you? I guess if you sprayed it on yourself you’d end up smelling like a salad. Carol, I would use cider vinegar. I don't remember if they specified. I would spray it on myself if I were anticipating some serious bug activity. Bon Apetit! Guest guest
My cats are not exactly all friendly to me. Mamas bring them around after they are partially grown and they just don’t usually take to people. So, perhaps I could try this recipe and the bugs will hate me, but it will make my cats love me. You know how cats love catnip. Just partly lol. Ed Carol Minnick [carolminnick] Monday, August 18, 2003 9:31 PM To: RE: Health Tidbits Deb, Thanks for posting that – I’m going to give it a try, too.
