The database has detailed nutritional information for more than 6,000 food products, including those from fast food restaurants, and provides calorie and fat content, as well as the amount of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals. Food can be researched by brand name or under generic names. Nutrients are already being added to the database for an update that will be published this month. Further updates to the National Nutrient Database will be published once a year on the USDA Web site.
