Guest guest
Well, dang, it ain’t a soapbox. I’m just wondering why religious posts get through while at the same time, when people start referencing scripture (I could reference scripture for economic and political justice laws as well) then it is identified as religious. The problem is that you did not consider your reference to “god” to be religious while others (possibly yourself) determine another’s reference as religious. I could post the sites around the US where the Feast of Tabernacles is being held at as well. Most of us would recognize that as blatantly religious. Why the difference? Again, what IS the working definition of religion? If we can’t adhere to it justly, then it needs to be stated that it is personal preference and what that preference is. Enough. I’m not trying to make this a religious post. But, again, if one has a rule it has to be clearly stated, and evenly kept and enforced. My basic question is whether or not there is an “objective” standard of what constitutes “religious” or is merely something that somebody else might be offended at? Its just my opinion but anything having to do with belief whether its medicine, science, or any other field if it uses and is based on belief it is a religion. That is why when I moderated IUFO and other groups I never banned conversation on topics that fell into the realm of belief which is IMO a religion. What is a religion it is something based on something not proven but thought to be real or true based without any facts. Belief is what is destroying everything. Even Society is a belief a condition much like a religion that is a accepted thing, but in reality it to is a myth people believe just like money has no real value that is nothing more then a illusion of accepted stupidity that enslaves and dumbs down people. Ban belief not things created by it like a religion. Once a real discussion blows the myths and beliefs to hell we return to a society of thinking people. Not brainless dumbed down Androids. Walt To keep Ed off his soapbox, I apologize for sending this to the list, I can see how it looks like it is religious. Guest guest
Actually, the colors do all “suggest” or symbolize something other than just the fact of a particular part of the spectrum and the way that it reacts on an individual human’s eyes. That is a part of the reason that different rays of the spectrum are healing while other parts of the spectrum are physically/mentally disturbing, at least when seen individually. Most of the ones that are healing “happen” to have been previously used “religiously.” As to your intent to your post: do you get the idea of treating all the religions that are represented here in a just fashion, fairly. We have Christians, Buddhists, Taoists, New Agers, objectivists (more a philosophy but still with a certain belief system about the universe that dependent upon a certain set of unprovable presuppositions that affect the adherents view of “reality.”); witches; naturalists, pantheists, etc.etc. My point is that not any one or two, or three should banned but all should be banned except perhaps some practice that one does in it that may or may not be of some utility in healing, and that that healing can be done through the same technique, or use of herbs, whatever, outside of the original religious context. As an example, witchcraft deals with healing with herbs. Practitioners have a long tradition of the usage. As it turns out, many of those uses do turn out to be folklore in some respects, but in others actual healing of the body/mind is accomplished. And one does not have to be a practitioner of witchcraft for the healing to take effect. Many of the things that heal do so because of reality. And not necessarily because of one’s faith. Faith can cause things to heal that wouldn’t otherwise. Any faith will do. As far as healing the body from any particular disease. The medicine man is the same as the modern MD. Both use things that may or may not work, but the patient has faith that they will work. Often times the faith, or belief, causes the healing rather than the physical things used, or done, being the instrument. I use herbs from S America that are chanted over for their blessing by the people that pick them. From my own perspective, I consider that meaningless. Maybe the tones of the sound does change, or somehow affect, the plant before it is picked. I don’t know. There is a book written, at least one, that demonstrates that plants grow better when talked to, or stimulated by sound. I just know that the various herbs work, and the science done on them, also demonstrates that. But, again, the point is that their faith is different than mine, but the herbs still work for me as they do for them. I actually consider all of life to be religion. One’s whole life is driven by a particular world and life view that is itself driven by a certain set of presuppositions that one never proves although one might question their validity at certain times. But reality is such that, although one’s views (religion) about it might differ from everybody else’s, we all experience the same reality. I know that there will be people differ from that, but I think that that is a statement that most would agree with. And the reality is that our bodies are so much alike that we can figure out that the things that work for one type will work for the same type of individual when applied, without mentioning the individual’s belief structure surrounding the ideas and practices being incorporated. Guest guest
Ed, I think an occasional gentle reminder to folks to stay on topic or clearly label posts as “Off Topic”, or OT, is fine. Most lists occasionally drift off course for a bit only to find their way back. Terry Ed Siceloff [siceloff] Wednesday, September 17, 2003 3:22 PM To: RE: Sorry//Re: : HARMONIC CONCORDANCE in FLORIDA Actually, the colors do all “suggest” or symbolize something other than just the fact of a particular part of the spectrum and the way that it reacts on an individual human’s eyes. Guest guest
Actually, you are just looking for a way to justify your religious spouting. I would suggest that the moderator demonstrate the policy in a way that you can " get. Guest guest
Greetings, Psychology can be considered as the study of another's belief system. I do not think this study includes religion unless what you rely upon is your religion which has another physical counter-part in its actual living. This being of course that it can be taught and transmitted from one generation to another. As to the tone of the color, it will be a matter of pixel depiction of pictures and their contrast against the background of the imperfect perfecting by supreme methods that they have agreed upon, for the time being. Guest guest
I am appalled by the following comment: That must be pretty good soap to have to get up off the toilet, while taking a dump, for. I don't put your beliefs down and would appreciate it if you would extend the same to me.
