The predominant body use of singlet oxygen is ATP energy production. Science is only starting to recognize that our natural immune systemís first line of defense is singlet oxygen and related compounds. Oxygen is combined with water to produce hydrogen peroxide on demand in our peroxisomes. All disease causing microbial invaders are anaerobes that are easily dispatched by peroxide, if the body has enough oxygen to make enough of it. Almost every cell in the body (with the exception of the lining of the blood vessels) harmlessly produces this natural peroxide to clean and sterilize our inner environment. This is safe and effective because normal healthy cells protect themselves from lipid peroxidation. But anaerobic disease causing microbes and dead, weak, feeble, diseased, and dying human cells canít do so because they are not able to produce any protective antioxidant coatings. Nature is beautiful in its simplicity. Life is a continual process of eliminating acidosis. Chiefly the removal and neutralization of lactic acid. Lactic acid is the cause of muscle soreness. A build-up of acid waste causes breakdown and disease, so the body is continually adjusting its pH toward alkaline by buffering and eliminating acids. The first substance the body uses to continually oxidize lactic acid is oxygen. All waste products; H, C, N, & S are first combined with oxygen so they can be removed. Without enough oxygen they start staying in the body. Low oxygen levels build toxicity, which turns to disease. Why has there never been a single case of coronary bypass involving veins? The reason is that lactic acid is created in and attacks muscle tissue. Arteries have a sheath of rhythmically contracting muscle to assist the heart, but veins do not have any muscular sheaths. To protect its continually blood pushing arterial muscles from lactic acid attack the liver creates excess cholesterol (a thick alcohol) to thicken and support (harden) the artery walls. To do this, the liver takes metallic calcium and combines it with HDL to make plaque. The proof is that you can make your own plaque in a lab by combining metallic calcium and HDL. Our tissue and fluid oxygen levels drop from improper breathing and poor diet and breathing polluted air - the oxygen is there but bound with pollution. Our diets also do not contain natural electron transferring oils and full spectrum major and trace minerals because our foods are processed and grown on over-used played out de-mineralized soils. Without all the minerals in them our cells cannot rebuild properly or maintain enough positive charge to attract the negatively charged cleansing and healing oxygen subspecies to them. Compounded with this, the body has less and less available fresh oxygen in the tissues and fluids to make the oxygen compounds in the first place. Our dietary oils are supposed to transfer oxygenís electrons - but the cheap dietary oils are turning rancid inside us. So the body is confused, and tries to oxidize the toxins in the plaque at the same time it makes the plaque to protect itself. Of course there is inflammation present in plaque, as waste irritants always generate histamine immune responses, and the process of oxidizing irritating toxins is an exothermic reaction. There is not enough oxygen to oxidize the muscle-attacking waste acids. There is not enough oxygen or minerals available to maintain the correct high cell electrical attraction and repulsion polarities. As a result the confused body uses the only raw materials it has and makes low grade plaque out of cheap fats & oils as a band-aid to shore up and protect the arteries under continual lactic acid attack. Then other body systems sense the plaque as containing stored toxins and continually try to dissolve it by sending immune system produced " ozone " to the site. Then the Scripps researchers see the signature of ozone in the plaque and the media announces Ozone Causes Heart Disease. " So if antibodies produce ozone in the human body, the TSRI scientists asked, what is the ozone doing there? " Scripps researchers have shown our antibodies meet our neutrophils and produce oxidative subspecies like ozone as part of our natural immune system function simply because toxins and disease causing microbial anaerobic invaders are easily dispatched by singlet oxygen, peroxide, and ozone. Scripps researchers err when making the great leap that " Ozone is damaging. " " Ozone breaks down cholesterol to produce toxic compounds. " TSRI website (paraphrased). The body is trying to dissolve atherosclerotic plaques by transporting active oxygen sub species to the vessels under lactic acid attack and in need of cleansing. If our bodies only had enough fresh oxygen (non-isotopic, not bound with pollution), the body would soon oxidize and clean all its toxins out completely. The blood would be bright cherry red. " The atheronals' signature products that were produced when the highly reactive ozone mixed with cholesterol were evident in the plaques. This suggests that ozone production occurred as these plaques were being formed. " If you take a snapshot of the process of the body dissolving any of itís wastes and toxins, you could spin all sorts of meanings by examining only the halfway products and ignoring the whole final cleansing result of the process. In this way one could give ozone - a very beneficial natural compound - a very bad reputation and sell a lot of drugs to diagnose and fix an artificially created problem. This of course would greatly please the researchers and drug lords who don't think 81% of our people taking drugs is enough yet. JAMA. 2002; 287:337-344 " Lerner, Wentworth, and their colleagues detail how one of the atheronals was found in the blood of patients who have late-stage atherosclerosis, but not in healthy individuals. " The bodies of healthy individuals are not undergoing the same deficiencies and toxic load stresses, so there is not as much plaque being formed. If there is no (or less) need to get rid of any plaque, the body wisely uses its limited poor diet diminished resources elsewhere. Hence no leftover signature of ozone. Detecting the signature of ozone is only showing that the body is toxic and was trying to clean out, not that ozone causes heart disease. Only diseased (toxin filled) people need the body to create extra oxidative sub-species in attempts to clean itself out. Our bodies are two-thirds water. The existing municipal drinking and waste water fields are replete with studies showing that as their ozone sterilization treatments operate, the intermediate breakdown compounds resulting from ozone sterilization and detoxification become suspect. But clinical histories and the existing literature also shows if we let the process continue by allowing enough ozone to toxin contact time, ozone eventually breaks all microbes and waste into their base elementals by pulling out the hydrogen bonds holding together the non antioxidant-protected toxins - dehydrogenation. The body is amazingly simple once you back away from the minutiae and look at the over all picture before assigning error filled meanings to chemical occurrences. Bottom line. The body is constantly trying to use oxygen to clean and heal itself. Garbage in, the body reacts to protect. It does this in two ways: 1. Continually eliminating millions of anaerobic microbial invaders by surrounding them with active forms of oxygen and other oxidative sub-species like peroxides because anaerobes canít live in active forms of oxygen. 2. Continually oxidizing building up unnatural toxic waste such as atherosclerotic plaques. " Does ozone water purification of that nearby bottled water damage the contaminants previously in the water? Ask any of the hundreds of thousands of people presently using home ozone for air purification if ozone damages or cleans their air, or damages the occurrence of family sickness, or damages odors and mold. Nature is constantly trying to clean our environment with ozone and oxygen sub-species in the same way she tries to clean our bodies. That is why ozone, measured in only parts per million and clear, is found next to tons of filthy brown smog. Smog only persists because its sheer volume overpowers the tiny PPM of ozone drawn to clean it up. In the same way, ozoneís signature is found next to unhealthy peopleís plaque that itís also been trying to clean up. It is more profitable for the media to not blame the hand that feeds them - the greedy industrialists and their toxins - but to instead blame defenseless Nature's attempts at her solution being overpowered by oxygen depleting pollution and rainforest destruction. But scientists recently discovered that the extremely reactive form of oxygen is produced by the human immune system as part of its defense strategy. New findings published in the journal Science suggest that such ozone production could contribute to atherosclerosis, the disease commonly known as hardening of the arteries that increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. As atherosclerosis develops, inflammation fuels the growth of plaques in the arteries. Paul Wentworth, Jr. and Richard Lerner of the Scripps Research Institute and their colleagues theorized that the fat-laden deposits that are hallmarks of the disease have all the necessary ingredients to manufacture ozone. " Ozone is damaging, and it is really a problem that we are going to have to think about in the next few years, " Wentworth notes. " There may be a whole slew of molecules that ozone generates that we have never thought about before. " The researchers analyzed plaque samples removed from patients suffering from coronary artery disease and found two compounds--dubbed atheronals by the authors--that are signature byproducts of ozone's interaction with cholesterol, forms of which have long been associated with atherosclerosis. The team writes that " it seems likely that ozone is generated throughout the evolution of the disease. " The researchers also detected one of the atheronal compounds in blood taken from patients suffering from late-stage atherosclerosis.
