Scary story, but looking back at the the details, spanish flu most likely originated in mass vaccinations in the military, and wasn't a flu at all. Scientists didn't have the technology to isolate and identify a virus until the 1930's. They simply scraped scabs and whatnot, inoculated and did a fair bit of hoping.
