Guest guest
" Extra-virgin olive oil is especially good because it is lighter and less fattening than other oils and fats. It is a monounsaturated fat, which means that it protects against free radicals and promotes the good kind of HDL cholesterol. Monounsaturated fats also help decrease heart attacks and strokes by preventing platelets from clumping together in clots. " Even so, olive oil contributes more than ten times the free radicals to your health regime than coconut oil does, and more than twice what butter does. Canola oil is widely touted as a high-monounsaturate but it contributes about 80% more free radicals than olive oil, so it's not as good as some people might think. regards, Duncan Crow
Guest guest
Re. Canola oil, It is even worse than one might imagine. During processing -- as part of the deodorization process -- the rapeseed oil that is euphemistically called Canola oil is subjected to very high temperatures (above 400 deg. F) and held there for a long period of time. mono and poly unsaturated oils begin to convert into trans fatty acids at temperatures when heated to 320 deg. F and above. Some Canola oils have been found to contain up to 45% TFAs! That probably makes is the most harmful " health food " on the planet. BTW, there is no such thing as " bad cholesterol. " That concept was introduced by the bogus lipid hypothesis. > " Extra-virgin olive oil is especially good because it is lighter and less >fattening than other oils and fats.
