GLOBAL WARMING & AEROSOLS

It can be demonstrated that the introduction of essentially any metallic or

metallic salt aerosol into the lower atmosphere will have the effect of

heating up that lower atmosphere. The impact is both significant and

measurable. Those that seek and express concern on the so called global

warming problem might wish to begin their search with an inquiry into the

thermodynamics of artificially introduced metallic aerosols into the lower

atmosphere. The direct injection of massive amounts of particulate matter by

aircraft into the atmosphere for more than five years establishes the

foundation for this inquiry. An examination of the specific heat

characteristics of an altered atmosphere will provide the path for the

realistic conclusions that can be made.

Any claim that the aerosol operations represent a mitigating influence on

the global warming problem appears to be a complete facade that is in direct

contradiction to the fundamental principles of physics and thermodynamics.

The lack of candor and honesty by government, media and environmental

protection agencies in response to public inquiry is further evidence of the

fictitious fronts that have been proposed. It is past time to recognize that

one of the primary effects of the dense aerosols that now permanently mar

the lifeblood of this planet is the heating up of the very atmosphere that

we breathe.

The early stage of the current argument for global heating and the

aggravation of drought conditions was proposed approximately two years ago1.

The benefit of the current study is that an estimate of the magnitude of the

heat influence upon the atmosphere can now be made. Those that continue to

claim a benevolent, but necessarily secret enterprise to protect the planet

with a blanket of purportedly heat reflective aerosols in the lower

atmosphere will need to provide the primary evidence of that claim. That

claim will need to be justified with solid physical principles and

observation. Hypothetical research models that are under discussion and

rationalization, such as the Teller proposal, are more appropriate to the

outer reaches of the planet and space. These proposals do not explain the

deposition of massive amounts of hygroscopic aerosols into the lower

atmosphere.

The recent media attention to the dramatic and accelerating climatic changes

will hopefully be extended to the fundamental principles that are expressed

within this report.

The mathematics, physical principles and thermodynamics of this argument

will be made available on a separate entry.

Aerosol effects

Ed. note: Look carefully at what produces negative forcings.

CLIMATE PRODS These bars indicate in watts per square meter natural and

human influences--called " forcings " in the climate-science community--that

alter the flow of radiant energy in the atmosphere and cool or warm Earth by

perturbing its energy balance. Positive forcings warm the planet, whereas

negative ones cool it. The largest single positive forcing is CO2. Without

major changes in fossil fuel burning, the forcing from CO2 is expected to

grow much larger as the century progresses. Reflective aerosols, and the

cloud changes that occur when clouds contain reflective aerosols, are

negative forcings, but their magnitude is highly uncertain. Reflective

aerosols include sulfates, nitrates, organic carbon, and soil dust.

" Macro engineering " to combat climate change

ED NOTE: The bottom line is that the noticeable increase in " cirrus cloud

cover " has been conclusively determined to be exerting a net warming effect

on the global atmosphere. Next time you see them aerosoling, read an

article about " climate change, " or your neck of the woods gets hit by

extreme weather think about this.

Thought experiment on macro engineering to combat climate change

An international conference looking at macro engineering solutions

to climate change management and mitigation has taken place this week, with

a view to deciding what ideas are plausible for further scientific research.

Seeding oceans with iron filings, sending millions of tiny helium

balloons into the atmosphere and carbon sequestration will all be on the

discussion agenda for scientists attending the conference organised by the

Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the Cambridge MIT Institute.

" We urgently need to explore the feasibility of imaginative and new

ideas for reducing global warming in the future, either by slashing carbon

dioxide emissions, or by counteracting its effects, if we are to avoid

dangerous climate change, " said Professor John Shepherd, a Director of the

Tyndall Centre.

The event is the first of its kind to be held, and is operating

under the premise that it will be a 'thought experiment', offering

scientists the opportunity to discuss the feasibility of some macro

engineering proposals - some of which have already been described by

organisers of the event as 'crazy'.

" That is why they should be evaluated (and if necessary dismissed)

as soon as possible. Otherwise, politicians may seek to use them as 'magic

bullets' either to postpone action, or as prospective solutions for actual

implementation, once it becomes clear that the mitigation of climate change

is going to be a major and very difficult task, " say the organisers.

They are hoping this will become the first in a symposium of events

on the role macro engineering will play in combating climate change.

Sending millions of tiny helium balloons up into the upper

atmosphere to reflect the suns trapped rays from the earth back into the

atmosphere is a possible option, on the macro level, to fight global

warming, a spokesperson for the Tyndall Centre explained to edie. Another

potential climate change management tool could be to seed ocean beds with

iron filings, thereby encouraging algae growth, which would in turn

sequester more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, in a similar way to

trees.

" Most of these macro-engineering options are not yet in the

mainstream for climate policy, but the mere fact that they have been

suggested, places an obligation on scientists from many disciplines to

explore their feasibility and evaluate their consequences and wider

implications, " said Professor Shepherd.

" If it turns out that conventional proposals to mitigate warming

don't deliver then governments and industry can look towards these options.

At any rate such large scale measures are useful for scientists to have up

their sleeves, " said the spokesperson.
