Guest guest
Hello All, I just joined the group. I am a 54 year old male who had a series of heart attacks on May 27, 2003. I ended up having a quadruple bypass on June 2, 2003. Due to complications I was in the hosptial for 15 days. A major complication that was brought on was Congestive Heart Failure thanks to an arrogant cardiologist who would not take no for an answer when I told him I do poorly with transfusions. He refused to listen to me or to my wife when I told him I nearly died from my first transfusion 10 years earlier. My body just flat out tries to reject the transfusion and things go very wrong. He insisted I have the transfusion stating that medical science has progessed greatly when it comes to transfusions over the last 10 years. He waited until the morning when my wife was not there and they FORCED the transfusion in a four hour span instead of six hours. An hour after the transfusion I had congestive heart failure and ended up in ICU for 3 days to be stabilized. On another occasion my cardiologist was dead set on the fact that I had a kidney stone because I was complaining about some severe pain in my lower back that radiated throughout my entire body. I told him the point of the pain stems from the spot where he did a procedure earlier in the day where he inserted a needle into my lower back to drain fluid from around my lung. He said that was impossible it must be a kidney stone and he set me up for tests to be performed the following day. I demanded that it was NOT a kidney stone since I had one a year earlier and the pain was not even comparable nor was it in the same area. He insisted and set me up for those tests. Long story short, my nurses (and my wife) finally convinced this so called dr. that I did not have a kidney stone and to put me on TARODOL (sp?) for the pain and he finally did and the pain vanished shortly after that. But, I laid in pain for 2 days while he insisted that I had this kidney stone. Obviously I did not have a stone at all. More than just this happened thanks to this doctor and I am considering a suit because I now have CHF for the rest of my life thanks to him. Anyway... my interests from this group is anything and everything that deals with the dangers of statins, alternative meds for the lowering of blood pressure, cholesterol, basically all the relates to the reversing of heart disease. I will not go through what I had experienced last summer ever again. Curretnly I am NOT taking any prescription drugs at all. I gave up the Zocor soon after I discovererd I was having some myopathy and neuropathy issues thanks to it. I also stopped taking Lopressor for depression when it was making me feel mushy in the head and I was always tired and had a lousy outlook on life in general. Now I am taking supplements and feel 1000% better than when I was on prescriptions. I am taking Policosanl to lower my cholesterol (no side effects). Also, Hawthorn, CoQ10, Omega 3, 6 and 9, Cayenne, Serrapeptase, Folic Acid and L-Arginine. I would be interested in hearing from others or reading articles about any of these. I belong to several other groups in and have started one of my own called HEARTSUPPLEMENTS. I am very suspicious of the true intentions of pharmaceutical companies, am beginning to wonder about the education that some doctors have, have little regard for pharmaceutical representatives, and am just very suspicous of the medical profession as a whole. On top of that my wife is a nurse. I have done a tremendous amout of research on anything and everything to do with statins, pharmaceutical companies in general, supplements, etc. I look forward to reading posts in this group.
