Hi Nancy,

First of all

– you say they were using a powder approved by the FDA – I

don’t know about anybody else, but personally I

wouldn’t want ANYTHING that was approved by the FDA – what was it,

some kind of drug???

I have had a vita mix for about 10 years

and absolutely love it. I use it

every single day that I am home for

lunch, which is probably 5-6 days a week.

I make smoothies for my lunch every day. So it gets a mighty good workout, and so

far no problems with the machine.

It’s an amazing machine.

I can even put in the center core of a pineapple, and it will smoosh it

up – I bet your Oster won’t do that. I also add

flax seeds to my smoothie mixes, and it’s all

liquidy when it’s done. The

other thing I like about the vita mix is that I can make hot soup in it, and also

sorbets. I think the only thing it

won’t do is mash potatoes. I

have grated cheese, grated cabbage for cole slaw, chopped nuts, etc. I don’t have a food processor as

this seems to do everything I need.

As far as this whole food juice, compared

to juice from a juicer – both are good – the juicer juice

doesn’t need as much digestion because it gets to the blood stream very

quickly – but a juicer can’t pulverize the cell walls of

the fruit or veggies like the vita mix does, so a lot of juice gets thrown

away, and you also end up with all that

luscious pulp that you would not be using – unless you can find a use for

it all, like put it in breads or soups, or just eat it. The vita mix breaks the fiber down so

fine that it releases more juice from the cells of the fruits and veggies. With a juicer you throw away all that

yummy fiber which is so good for you.

I saw a Vita Mix demo at Costco and I liked the

drink that he

made.

I have seen a few other demos such as this and liked the

drink each

time. I don't think it is actually considered juicing as

I want the

whole fruit or vegetable to drink. Vita Mix is calling it

the whole

food meal even though it is a thick drink. I am trying to

research

this but not getting much information. If I knew the true

term for

this I might be able to find more information, but I don't.

The Vita Mix

appliance looks like a well built high powered

blender. I

recently purchased an Oster 450watt blender and

wondered if

this would work? I think they are the same except my

Oster is not

as powerful. I don't want to put money into one of

these

machines until I know for sure that my husband and I like

these drinks

and will continue to make them. My next question is do

you know

where I can find a book or a website that has information

about whole

food juicing and recipes? Anyway, the next question is

the

gentleman put either a whey or soy powder in the mix. He said it

had protein

and was the only one approved by the FDA(I think that is

who he

said). I have emailed Vita Mix but have not received a

response. I

was hoping someone has seen these demos and possibly

knows what

the powder was.

I really

appreciate your time in helping me. Thank you.
